I just got done putting together my new Avery fullbodies and had one head that I cannot get on. I think the problem is actually the threads on the neck of the body are to far apart. I tried to put three different heads on the same body and can't get any of them to go. Any tips? All the others went together great--just one that I had a problem with. Thanks, NE Hunter

Will the head go on at all? Is it not fitting all the way to the base of the neck? Please let us know.
Thanks,

NE Hunter,
The problem that I find when guys are having problems getting a head to go on a decoy is when the female section of the head is smashed in! This is cause by applying more pressure than what is needed to attach to head. This pressure will deform the protruded portion of the head opening and results in the head not being able to attach.
If you look at the protruded part of the head (where the tread goes) if this is smashed in at all it will make attaching the head difficult. I would suggest taking a pair of pliers and prying the protruded portion back to its original position and try to reattach with less pressure.
If this does not seem to be your problem, please e-mail me a photo of the neck post on the body at breta@averyoutdoors.com
Did you try the soapy water trick?
Thanks,
NE Hunter

I have not tried the soapy water trick--what is it?
Head will go on half way. It screws onto the first half of the threads but not the back half. I will go try it with less pressure and report back soon. Thanks for your help guys!!!!

The female section of the head is not smashed in and I even took some pliers and tried to move it out a little but that didn't help either. Like I said earlier--the head screws on the first threads but not the back ones that make it flush with the body--there is about a 1/2 inch gap or so. I tried using less pressure but the head just spins and tries to catch but doesn't. Thanks again, NE Hunter

I will add this about one head I had a problem with. There was one head I had that had a little extra plastic on it. It was right on the edge of the square opening that the peg goes into.
The problem was easily solved by taking a utility knife and removing the extra plastic.
You might check that aspect as well.

I had this same problem with 4 or 5 of my fullbodies... where the head would go on the first thread, but not lock down. I put all heads on with soapy water, it does help. But in the end, it took a great deal of pressure while turning the head. Once you get one side to catch the lower thread, keep the pressure on and keep turning... all the ones I had probs with did go on, just took quite a bit of effort, time, and a few choice words!
Good luck... Clint

I put together 10 dozen over the weekend and had a couple that were a little tough. I switched some of the same head styles out, until they fit right. I also sprayed a small amount of WD40 on the threads, which really made it alot easier.
GOOD LUCK!

The way i fixed the head fullbody problem is before you even try the heads turn them over and look at were the two notches are on the bottom if there is any material in the corners on the notches take a dremel and grind that away so that the corners are squared up and if you go alittle deeper with the notch when your grinding don,t worry it,s not the notch that holds the head on anyway. Take it from experience if you don,t you mite split a neck seam but if you do just put it on and take two wood screw,s on eash side of the split and screw the head on mine stay on all the time any way.GOOD LUCK! You,ll like them when you use them they hav,nt let us down yet.

I just received and assembeled 18 of them last week. I had one head that wouldnt go on. I had to grind a small amount of plastic from the threaded area of the decoy. It was where the 2 halves of the mold mate together. It is a small amount of plastic that stands up at the seam. I hope you can understand what I mean. If not give me a call and I can walk you through it. Mine would go on half way is all too. It is nothing that a razor blade cant fix in about 30 seconds.
All of my bases went on with no problem also.

NE Hunter, you are a typical man like all of us...never read the directions! :D Seriously, in the instructions that come in the box, assembly and using soapy water is discussed. ;) Good luck with your decoys. We have been running a small spread of only about 15 decoys so far this season and doing very well.
