anyone seen these or use them, you stick them on the bottom of you decoys attatch a weight, and just pull the line out, then to get it back just give it a quick pull and it automaticaly retracts the line back, they look pretty slick, package says it cuts about half the time setting and picking up decoys. come with what it looks to be about 7-8 feet of very fine plastic coated wire.(thats plenty where i hunt) and cost was $15 for a package of six, a little spendy but if they work I think it might be worth it, the only down fall that i really noticed is you have to attatch them on the decoy with a plastic adhesive like jb weld, and when it's time for new decoys after years of use these things are no good because you can't get them off your old ones, I like some feedback before I buy some. if anyone uses them what you think of them. good or bad.

Bo,
I have a dozen Quick Reels, I bought a few years back now, they come with 25 foot of cord, and like the ones your talking about all you have to do is put a weight on them, But instaed of using a glue to put them on you use a small screw and connect them right to the keel,( water keels) this way you can remove them when its time for new deks, I like the ones I have becuse up here one day I can be in a marsh and only need 4 foot on line, and the next be on Lake Eire, or a big inland lake where I might need 17 to 20 foot of line.
Now the quick Reels you push a botton to release the line, and it has a little crank to retrieve the line, they have worked out real well for so far. They too are a little more money but I think it well worh it.
Hope this helps.

Bo,

Give Dave Sinkler at Bob's Merchandise a call, there number is 360-425-3870. They are located in Longview Just about 30 min North of you on I-5. He should take care of you. The company that used to make that was the same co that made the Mallard Machine. I beleive their website is Mallardmachine.com. Hopefully this helps!

Hows the hunting been up in the Northwest?

Have a good season and good luck finding what you need.

Bo,

Have you considered just using the Greenhead Gear Depth Adjusters? They will run you about $3.99 for a dozen and if you are just hunting in 7'-8' of water, you can put out and pick up your decoys in no time by using these and you would save a lot of money.

Bo,

I have tried the ones like you described. The only problem I had with them was when there was ICE. Up here in North Dakota, that can be opening weekend. I scrapped them all and went to the depth adjuster like Scott said.

Thanks,

Yes
They are called "The Decoy Retriever" and you can all check them out at www.thedecoyretriever.com (http://www.thedecoyretriever.com) and they work great! Every one I know have them on their decoys. These are also sold on ebay.

We have had no problems with the ice and they are very durable and can either be glued on and cant be cut off when moving to a new decoy or screewed on to a solid decoy.

Also you can find them sponsered on www.moduxs.com (http://www.moduxs.com) Duck hunting video DVD with knock your socks off hunting.

Check them out!!

The ones made by the folks that make the MAllard Machine are called EZ Reels and they can be had a Wallyworlds around here for 14 bucks a dozen, These work well for me as we leave out decoys at some of our spots ofver the length of the season and the water fluctuates from a foot to six foot and i dont have the time to adjust the line adjsuter things on the others because those decoys are used in many different places, I just want to throw them out.

Now. heres an idea, that I've mentioned several times, why not incorporate this type of device in an optional snaplock keel that works with GHG decoys? Seems they would be a hit.
