View Full Version : KILLER WEED
WENT TO SPORTSMANS THIS MORNING FOUND ACOUPLE OF PACKS OF THIS STUFF. HOW BIG OF A BOAT WILL IT COVER AND IS IT IN A ROLL OR IN INDIVIDUAL PIECES/CLUMPS. THE GUY WORKING THE AREA DIDNT SEEM TO KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT. IM INTERESTED IN GETTING SOMETHING MORE DURABLE THAN THE FASTGRASS. IVE HEARD ALOT ABOUT THE KILLERWEED ON THIS SITE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE WHAT IM LOOKING FOR. JUST WANTED SOMEMORE INPUT ABOUT IT BEFORE I BUY SOME. DOES IT SPLIT AND BREAKAPART WHEN SAY SAT ON ECT....JUST HOW MUCH ABUSE WILL THE STUFF TAKE?

JG,
What size package did Sportsman's have? The layout blind kit will cover a ground blind. If it is an actual boat blind kit, it will cover most boats. A lot of it depends on how thick you put it on. On our blind, we were able to take the strands (one of each color) and fold them in half making a loop. We fed the loop thru a hole in the CamoNet and put a half hitch in it. We did that in various spots on the CamoNet until it was all lightly covered. We used somewhere around 4 pounds to cover the whole blind. It is a 17' Lowe.
The combination that I used on my boat was 4 strands of the various colors. By that, I mean one golden, one brown, one green, and one khaki. There was a lot of trial and error to see what combination was going to work best most of the time to blend into the area I hunt. That combination seemed to work the best at that time. Now if I want to hunt earlier when it is greener, I can go back and add just green. If I hunt later, I can take out the green and add the darker colors. The colors keep changing and you may need to change your combinations as they do.
I will post a picture in the next post.
Thanks,
Rick Frisch

This is the photo of the KillerWeed on the Avery QuickSet Boat Blind. We only used about 80% of a boat blind kit of KillerWeed. The multiple colors give it a three dimensional look you can't get from just the CamoNets.

Please email me at chad @whiteriversales.com and I will get you some pics of the Finishers and Power Hunters with the KillerWeed on it. This stuff is deadly on the layout blinds. We had a ton of success with it this season in Canada as well as here in the states. It works awesome as a base layer. It prevents you from having to use a ton of the natural vegetation in the field that you are hunting in. By mixing the natural vegetation with the KillerWeed, the geese and ducks will have no idea. Please keep us informed of your success with the KillerWeed product.

I totally agree with Rick, we only used very little of the KW for the entire boat blind. I was very impressed on how little the amount we used in camoeing this blind. The boat blind kit is PLENTY to use effectively in concealing the boat blind.

Rick- That looks sweet! I have a buddy that is putting it on his permanent blinds... if it fades it fades, he just spray paints it. Not sure how long it will last getting paint caked on it, but, its not that expensive, and looks great.

IT WAS THE BOAT KIT I WAS LOOKING AT. IT LOOKED LIKE IT MAY HAVE BEEN OPENED SO I DIDNT GET IT. IM IN THE EARLY STAGES OF DESIGINING A NEW BLIND FOR MY BOAT SO IM JUST GETTING AN IDEA OF WHAT IS OUT THERE. THAT FASTGRASS IS THE BEST I HAVE CAME ACROSS AS FAR AS MATCHING DEAD CATTAILS BUT IT SURE IS FRAGILE.

Fastgrass is pretty fragile because it is single woven. Try our Realgrass. We double weave it, and it's pretty darn durable. Me personally, I would still top it off with killerweed.
