I just got 8 floaters,a dozen shells and a dozen full body pro series and used them on a hunt the other morning. The 6 slot bags I ordered havn't come in yet so I used the decoy bags that I had. When I took the decoys out after the hunt to clean them, my stomach sank when I noticed that alot of the paint rubbed off almost all of the decoys from them touching each other.I was careful when handling the bags of dekes and certainly didn't jostle them around while carrying them around.I was wondering if maybe I got a bad batch because it seems the paint came off to easily.I'm afraid to hunt with them till the bags come in and be better protected.

Bob,

I thought you were going to get the FFD Elites. This is a tough one. There isn't a way to prevent what you had happen as long as the decoys are touching each other. That little bit of touching and rubbing is not good for any painted plastic. The only way to prevent it is to not have them touching and cinch them down real tight so they can't vibrate.

Thanks,

Here is how I am storing the pro-grades right now. I have not gotten my bags as of yet, and the only thing I have had a problem is the flocking on that alert floater. You can see what I am talking about on this picture, and it is my own fault. But I just wanted to show you that they will hold up, but I DON'T recommend it!!! If you think you are losing more than normal, I would contact customer service and they will see if what you have is a problem. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/travismueller1/Decoys.jpg

Wow,I don't see any scratches on your dekes. You should see mine only after one hunt.I'm depressed.I shurly won't be using my dekes till I can get them in 6 slots. No wonder the bags sell so good

Im waiting for my bags to come into cableas for them to ship them out. I cant wait so I can put them in something I know will protect them. I dont plan on putting them in anything else but the bags. Those bags are selling like hot cakes. they must be great and thats why I ordered them.

Chris

Bob,

Sorry to hijack your thread but I have a question for Travis: Are those your O/S Goose Shells hanging on a rod in your photo? I like it but am curious as to how you came to using that method.

Thanks,

Rob, I am a genius. Actually I didn't have any decoy bags lying around, so I tried this and it worked very well so far. I have a few more pics if you want me to email them to you.

Travis I hate to break it to you but I have a patent pending on that decoy storage design. It's identical to the way we haul ours around.

We just stack them real tight to the front and then have one of those spider web bungee nightmares that we run from floor to cieling to keep them in place. They've already done some serious miles this year with no paint problems.

Anybody else out there have any problems with the paint rubbing of their dekes? Especially the floaters?

Bob - This might sound stupid but what did they look like before you took them out. I had a few that got beat up real bad in shipping but mine have held just fine in decoy bags.

Thanks guys, my wife now thinks I am a genius since I have a closet in the house that looks just like that.

They were in good shape when I got them except for 1 shell that was split up the seem from the breast to the neck, but GHG sent me a replacement. It just seems to me that the paint is coming off way to easily,it'll come off with my fingernail. At this rate they will be trash by February.

Bob, I am not trying to save the day or anything like that, and I do believe that you are losing some paint. I am showing you this picture, because this is how I store my goose floaters. I pile them on top of each other, and then pile more stuff on top of them. I use a cargo style bungee net while traveling down the road to keep them from flying out, although it still happens! Some of these have three years in them as of right now and yes they have lost some paint. Heck some of these our the one's before flocked heads even! But as you can see in this picture, not a lot of paint by any stretch of the imagination, and they fool geese everytime I use them. Yes some flocking has rubbed off and that is my fault due to the way I haul and treat them. The decoys you bought were a huge investment. Mine were too. I choose to treat them the way I choose to treat them. I have my 6-slots on the way and they will add years of life to my decoys. I have never owned a decoy that hasn't lost paint. Every decoy would benefit by a 6 or 12 slot decoy bag period. my email address is travism@averyoutdoors.com If you would like to send me pictures of your decoys I would be more than happy to give you my opinion. If you think that your decoys aren't holding up to the abuse then do something about it by calling our customer service department at 1-800-333-5119. But getting on here to ask anybody elses opinions aren't going to help you replace your decoys. You are more than welcome to ask everybody's opinions, but the fastest way to getting results is calling us. Thanks Bob. AGAIN IF ANY OF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE A WARRANTY ISSUE, CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AT, 1-800-333-5119. Tim will look at your situation, and be as fair as possible. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v600/travismueller1/november4th001.jpg

Travis,
I'm not necesarily trying to get my decoys replaced,I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't overreacting to my problem and wanted to know how other peoples dekes held up after being hunted. As I said before, I,ve only used them once and right now they are laid out in the back of my truck individually wrapped with towels till the bags come in.Honestly if I stacked them up like in your picture, most of the paint would have come off the backs of the dekes by now just being in the truck.I'll try and get some pictures of them.BTW dont think that i am slamming GHG cause I'm not.I believe that they are the best on the market for the price.I'm just concerned about my wear issue.
