I just received a doz. GHG FB feeders from Cabelas. They look great, the flocking is awesome! I was wondering if anyone else is having a problem attaching the bases? I have several that will not go on the body. I have tried both frontwards and backwards. Some of the ones I got on it took me just about sitting on them to get them to work. Is this supposed to take this much force to get them attached? I don't want to damage them. Anyone else having problems? Any suggestions?

Noticed they were tough to get on the first time out of the box, but after the base was on it snapped on and off no problem. We were doing demos of the bases all day and never had a problem. More than likely from sitting in the shipping box.

I had the same problem. Last one took two of us to get on. I've had them sitting for a week but sort of afraid to take it off and not get it back on. May just leave it on all season. Other than that they look real nice.

They do go on tight at first from the "memory" of the decoy body. Lift the lips of the foot hole gently until you can get it in, and then leave it in for some time to get the memory of it where it needs to be.

Bmac and quackinator,

I saw a few 2004 full bodies a few weeks ago. An Avery Territory Manager had them on display. The foot bases attached and detached within seconds. Your decoy's shape may have been affected during shipment. I would use a hair dryer to heat up the foot base and decoy body at the conection point of the two. This will soften the plastic and the plastic will become more pliable. Then let the decoys set a few days. After they set a few days, disassemble the decoys. I believe you will find that the decoys will return to their original shape and assembly and disassembly will become easy.

I plan on leaving my full bodies assembled for the entire season. I will take the foot base off of a 12-18 decoys. This will allow me to use Avery Universal Motion Stakes for added motion my spread. I may remove a few more foot bases, if we get a cold snowy winter. Having half of my full bodies snuggled in the snow will add realism to my spread. If you are apprehensive or have other concerns, contact our Customer Service Department at the link below.

Thanks again for your purchase of GHG decoys and I hope you have a memorable season. Post some after the hunt pictures.

I had a bit of trouble when Bill Cooksey showed me the new foot bases as well. Of course he picks it up and puts it on just fine. I think I was making it a bit harder than it was. redface.gif

Guys,

Some full bodies in the initial shipment may (obviously do) have some loose hardware. QC has corrected the problem, but for those who already have decoys we suggest checking all of your hardware. Use a 8mm socket to tighten anything that is loose.

For those of you who are having trouble fitting the base to the body, please give me a call at 800-333-5119 ext. 1548. I'd like to hear first hand exactly what is going on, and I think we can correct the situation. Then, I can post the correction for everyone who might be struggling, but hesitant to call or post.

Received the full body feeders 8/2 and it was a struggle to attach the bases. Two-man operation and then some. The nuts were also loose at the top and bottom of the legs. I did notice when UPS dropped off the box how hot the decoys were. Anyway, got the bases on and went out today to tighten up the nuts and see if things fit any better. Tightened up the nuts, put a drop of gorrilla glue on each nut with a Q-tip and reassembled. The bases went on just as slick as you please. Don't know if it was a combination of loose nuts, heat in the body warping it a little that caused the initial problem, but everything looks and works great now.

Guy's tried some as well in Missouri today and yeah they were pretty snug. But once I got those on they were fine. Like Cooksey said, don't hesitate to call Avery with questions. I don't know about the rest of you guy's, but this colder weather has me wanting to migrate!!!!!!

Did someone mention colder weather?? It has been int he 40's here in the tundra of Minnesota at night, and the geese are starting to move more. Farmers are starting to pick "oatlage" and the birds are thick. ITs going to be a heck of a year....

It has been unseasonably cool here too. You won't ever here me complain about that though. I'd be happy if I never saw beyond 80 degrees for the rest of my life. Yesterday was a high of 67 and it threw the geese for a loop because they weren't on the previous patterned routine. Now if we could just get a bit colder at night to get a nice frost to kill them 'squitos.

I used a hair dryer to reshape the bottom of the decoys and the rest went on fine. I took a couple off this morning and put them back on with no problems. Thanks Bill and everyone! I appreciate the time you took to help with the problem.

I am ready to go, 48 degrees this morning.
