OS Shell and Head question

Hey Guys,

I've never seen/touched the GHG shell and heads personally so I'll ask the following question. Are the heads for the shells made such that they are more "removal" friendly. What I mean by that is, the FB heads are recommended per the literature (OK, call me a freak, I actually read it) that came with the dekes said they were made to stay on without repeatedly removing them. I assume the heads for the shells are made to repeatedly be removed therefore allowing the convenience of stacking the shells for easier transport. I just wanted to double check before ordering some.

DL, I have some of the O.S. snowgoose shells and the heads go on and off very easy and have a good snug fit. You can turn the heads in every direction for different head positions and pick these decoys up by the head without them falling off.

Good questiond Driftwood. Jed answered it perfectly. We did design the shells for the walk-in hunter in mind. The heads go on and off easily yet they are snug enough to flip them over and not have to worry about the head falling off. It is very easy to take off the heads and throw them into a decoy bag. My brother-in-law had some shells, I think they were Flambeaus, that were like what you mentioned. I had a feeling they would be like what you described but I just wanted to double check.

I don't think that you could go wrong with our shells. The sleeper heads make them even more effective late in the season when the geese are looking for relax geese on snow or ice.

You are absolutely correct. I purchased 6 lookers and 6 feeders FB recently and they look unbelievable. I plan on buying a dozen shells to fill in the gaps and add more motion (I purchased some motion stakes already). I plan on putting some of the FB on stakes too.

I want the shells to get more "bang for the buck" (this will be the last of the deke budget for the year) and PORTABILITY!!! ALL of the areas holding geese I can get permission to hunt are 400 yards to 1/2 mile walks one way. I'm trying to talk the long ones into letting me use the 3-wheeler and trailer to get out there. So far no luck. A few more trips and less sleep is worth the extra hassle when you can get on the geese and have them commit to better decoys. GHG leave A LOT to be desired of the other dekes I've used in the past. Wish I'd heard of GHG sooner!!! :(

I believe that portability is a major reason for the use of shells. It was with that in mind that when the shells were designed, the heads were made in a way that they were easy to install and remove.
