heres my ?, I have all of the above (bought the all terrain based on my last round of questions in December on this).

Based on a variety of hunting suitations and locations, which scenerio do you think would provide better results?

would I be better off doing lots of clothspins with a small amount (5-6 strands?) of individual colors, or mix the greens together and gold/tan together and zipstrip them seperatly and pin them on in the field, or do a mix/match (2-3 strands of each color) and use that?

I'd love to hear everyones opinion on this and/or additional ideas.

What are you hunting in terms of a field? Corn, beans, peas, winter wheat?

most will be corn. I also have acess to some soy beans that they occasionally hit.

I zip tie bundles of all the colors mixed, use them every other stubble strap or every two stubbles straps. I just use it as a good base layer filler and then fill in with whatever you need when you get to the area you are hunting. I wouldn't reccommend doing every strap unless you have it to where you can take it off quickly. When I get to chiseled fields, I just use the Killer weed I have in the blind on every other strap, and leave the rest of the straps empty just showing the Field Khaki color that matches so well.

Robert, I carry a few garbage bags full of KW setup preseason tied to clothes pins that suit my usual hunting scenarios. We hunt alot of Pasture, corn, soybean, and worked up ground. I prefer the clothes pin method as I can change out quickly to fit the need. And then add them as Tony had mentioned.

I put my KillerWeed on in the field depending on the hunting situation. Getting all of the KillerWeed ready during the preseason is key. I also have some of my Finishers and Power Hunters set up with certain colors of the fields that I mainly hunt. I will use these blinds most of the time and I think that this is to my advantage because it gives to KillerWeed a chance to take it's true color. I mud all of my KillerWeed a couple of times per season and I really think that it helps in the realism. Let us know your results.

Good Hunting!

I agree, and like Jeremy, I keep 2-3 garbage bags of killerweed ready to go. Whether my lease is in rice or plowed ground w/green grass, I'm always ''covered''.

If it stops raining I might be able to cross the river! Thanks for the ideas, seems like everyone is in agreement, so I'll spend the night sorting and attaching the killerweed to the clothspins. I'll use one of my small carry bags (those freebees you get from F&S or any of the other hunting mags) and stuff it in that so I've got use of it in the field! Hopefully one of these days I'll get some photos (or better yet more than my 1 goose for the season :(

You are doing the right thing. By preparing the pins "pre-hunt" or "Pre-season" you will save your self a ton of flashlight time in the field before daylight. It is much easier in the garage listening to a ballgame...

I also put my killerweed bundles together before the hunt. I purchased 120 plastic swivel clips off the net and have been making bundles out of all terrian & golden harvest. I am goin to keep the green bundles seperate to use when hunting pastures and then the other brown bundles to use for bean/corn fields. I put the colors together or kept them seperate to make bundles and have my couch covered with the stuff.
I like to put around 30-40 bundles on my Power Hunters and then I clip on my actual corn bundles I have made too. Geese can't see em smile.gif

After much debate I changed my mind and ended up doing the colors seperate. Think it will come to my advantage hunting the different areas I either have or hope to. I did manage to get one color totally done last night, think I made around 25-30 bundles from just the tan! You guys put a ton of stuff in there.

Luckily the cats kept their distance, but my Weim just kept looking at me with the "whatcha doing dad" stare. Its amazing how her ears perk up once shes hears its all for the geese smile.gif

How come no one mentioned the potential mess this makes when unwinding? Had my wife not been preoccupied with her kniting and TV I'd of been in deep doo from all the strands.
