I have noticed when hunting with a big group of hunters when 3-4 callers are in the blind it really flares ducks.

I have staretd telling one guy to blow the call and the others to keep the call in their pocket and our success has increased. Anyone else notice that this is the case when hunting with large groups?

Johnny it just depends on what time of the year it is or what the ducks are looking for. If you got one guy using a comeback call while another guy is doing a feeding call, it sounds like alot more ducks on the water.

I agree with Jed. Numerous callers are more effective if they work with each other and become a team. If they are all blowing greeting calls at the same time it probably won't be effective. But if one is quacking a couple are feeding and another is blowing a greeting call they will probably be successful cause they sound like ducks.

i think alot of it depends on the caliber of callers. good callers will accent each other, callers that are not so good seem to try and out blow each other. i like to designate the best caller to lead and the second to follow. the biggest problem i find is egos, guys that can't acknowledge that someone is better that they are. we get this alot when goose hunting, the not so good callers refuse to flag(they think it's an insult to their ability) so the better ones end up getting stuck flagging cause somebody has to

Johnny,

Like take-um said, it depends on the caliber of the callers. There is always going to be better callers than you. First you must figure who is the better caller and then let him be the leader in the blind. What I mean is that he starts the calling of the ducks or geese and then everybody follows him. If done properly ( tons of practice and listening to good callers ) many people can compliment the lead caller. It sounds awesome too. Remember, the idea is to sound like many ducks and geese ( especially geese ) on the water or in the field. Try getting a tape with many people calling on it to listen too. You will see how it sounds. One that comes to mind is RNT's The Right Stuff: Duck Calling Dynamics. The start of it has five callers imatating a flock of ducks. Lots of feed, quacks, and lonesome hen calls! IT SOUNDS AWESOME and if that doesn't sound like ducks in a flooded field I don't know what does. You can also go to a meat or two man calling contest in you area to hear how two good callers compliment each other! Mack's Prairie Wing's is having there Waterfowl Festival this weekend and there will be a meat calling contest...go check it out.!!!
Good calling and shoot em' in the lips!
