I bought a Zink SR-1 Paralyzer in December. It came with the video on how to blow the call. Towards the end of the video Fred explains briefly on how to buddy call. I found that very helpfull but would like more information on it! The group i hunt with is 7 strong. Usually about 4 to 5 of us call and 1 will flag! I am positive that we sound like cicus noise, which is not good. The tape was excellent and helped us become better callers. We would like to improve as a group! Is there any videos out there that talk specifically about group calling. I would appreciate the help if anyone knows!
Oh yes, the Paralyzer SR-1 is the best call i have had in my hands to date. Very happy with it!

Honker Talk by Shawn Stahl also has a segment on group calling. I hope this help.

I agree that if you get a copy of HonkerTalk. You will see that Shawn and a couple of his buddies have a segment on group calling and the way one person takes the lead and the other ( at a point ) create the background noise allowing the the lead caller to be heard and finish the geese.

The Zink tape is a great tool to helping you become a better caller. Just get with your freinds and someone always has to be the lead caller IMHO. It doesn't do any good if everyone tries to blow a off the scale comeback at the same time. Trust the person in the lead and make sure he understands that sometimes the geese might be keying in on what your doing and to let you take over. Being the lead is like playing lead guitar in a band. He needs to be heard but has got to have a bass line to make it flow.

I think your on the right track. Hope this helps.?

Thanks!

Honker Talk is going to be in the mail Monday morning! The info on one guy taking the lead is excellent. I think that is our biggest thing to work on. We all seem to be taking the lead instead of designating the lead to somebody on each flock that comes our way. Appreciate the help guy's!

PEI Wing Locker,

Like Zig said, I think you are on the right track. Now that you guys have learned to call, it is time to experiment with the birds in your area to see what works.

I usually end up being the lead caller when I hunt. My biggest problem (sometimes) is there is so much racket going on (with the other callers) I can't hear the geese. I can work geese better if I can hear them, and I HAVE to be able to see them to know how they are responding.

Tailor your calling to the size of your spread, to how much birds in your area call on the ground, and try to get everyone to understand that more calling is not necessarily better. Sometimes more calling is great, but not always.

One thing I have done in the past is to not call to a couple flocks in a row after suggesting we are overcalling hasn't helped. I definitely sound better when I sing and the music is very loud, same with some callers. smile.gif If they have to "sing" acapelo sp?, they are apt to not sing so loud or long. And if the geese don't work anymore, most guys figure it out. Sometimes that bruises fewer egos than telling them to shut up! :D

Take turns leading the calling and give everyone a chance to lead if they want. There is no better way to learn to work birds than actually doing it. Sometimes it's fun to let someone else do the work and have both hands on the gun at showtime!

Hope some of that makes sense,

Allan

Once you guys get use to calling together it will be like a well oiled machine. It takes time but will pay off in the long run, after a while everyone wil be on the same page and oh the geese love it when to tag team em.

Definitely what Zig and Allan said. Sometimes you need someone to lean over and tell you to shut up or call more, or "eaaaaaaasy" Just remember when you can get notes on top of notes, that's what is lethal with geese. If you go slow and your four buddies go slow...all at the same time...it will sound like 2 going fast. And like Allan said, sometimes shut up and listen to the geese. They will tell you what they want to hear.

"Psssst..I want to hear a double cluck!"
