I am curious about specific shotgun styles and makes that you guys prefer to use when chasing ducks and geese. I saw a gun survey for grouse hunters and i wanted to gather some input here on waterfowl because there is probably a pretty large sample size and diversity in preferences. Please...vote away

If I didnt include anything tell me!,

And it would be great if everybody posted their favorite gun for the rest of us to see

Thanks,

Aaron

To me, the best waterfowling shotgun is a Browning BPS in camo, 26 inches barrel, 3 I/2" chamber with Wad Wizard chokes, period.

A plain old 870 will always get the job done. PERIOD!

I'm in complete agreemment i got my 870 for 343$ and my buddy got a Nova for 800$ and the remingtons got a much better action. Does anybody use 20 or 10 gauges for geese/ducks? i forget to include it in the poll.

Thanks

I use a Winchester SuperX2 for the most part, with both an 870 and 1100 for backups. Unless my X2 falls in the lake though, the other guns won't come out of the case. It's that good.

King of shotguns means a gun that has stood the test of time. To me, IMHO the king of shotguns was not on the list. BROWNING A-5 has got to be the king of waterfowling shotguns or on the pump side, I know of no better built pump gun the the Winchester Model 12.

I love beretta, so I would say the Extrema or the Urika. I personaly dont think 3 1/2 inch shot shels are needed. fiber optic sights are just personal preference you should not be aiming a shotgun anyways you are simply pointing one. And light modified chokes work awsome.

I'm up in canada so with the dollar and 15% tax and the fact he didnt get a great deal on the Nova accounted for it being 800$. I notice alot of the people who have semis chose other. If you did what kind of gun was it?

Thanks,

Aaron

I think the better way to have phrased the question would be either "What gun do you shoot" or "If cost wasn't an issue what gun would you shoot"

The 870 is the modern day Winchester 12. The 870 seems to be a gun that was a starter gun for a lot of people and is now a back up or rainy day gun. Old reliable.

Brett's mention of the A-5 is dead on. The humpback is one of the original autoloaders and has been around longer than anyone using this message board, it has probably also killed more ducks/geese than any other gun.

Technology advances have brought us Berretta and Benelli and everything in between.

Thanks,

AaronAaron, I would bet they are 10 gauges. That was left off the survey. A lot of goosehunters shoot Remington and Browning 10 gauge autos..

It all depends on the person operating it!!!!!!!
what they like, how they shoot and what they can afford !!!!! And sometimes who taught them.

A semi auto with shims to adjust the comb height and cast. A gun that fits well will be the best shooting gun of all, regardless of maker or model. Plus you'll save shells not taking the extra shots to make up for a poor mount!

Well, like the screen name implies I do own and use an SP10 from time to time. But I find I do most of my hunting with my 11-87, just love the way it fits.

Browning Gold 10 from Teal to Geese. Just step down in loads for the ducks.

I've been hunting with a Rem 870 Super Express - great gun and it shoots pretty straight :D

But I'm pretty sure my wife bought me a Browning Gold 3 1/2 Mossy Oak 26" for Christmas.

We stopped at our local gun store and they had one - then I stopped back by myself a few days later and it was gone - an there is a long flat box under the tree....

I'm hoping !!!
