Just got a doz Avery UMS. I was going to use them all on my small soread except maybe for the Lookers. They are all GHG Hunters except for 4 Hardcores. Is this too much motion?

Bob,

In my opinion, adding a dozen GHG Universal Motion Stakes to your spread is not to much motion. Last year my spread was about 25% motion decoys. This year my spread is up to 60% motion decoys. A few times this year. I have hunted small spreads that consisted of all motion decoys and GHG Lookers.

I would use them all, small spread with lots of motion and a few lookers sounds like a good set up.

My small spread consists of 3 dozen GHG hunter series fullbodies.1 1/2 dozen feeders, 1 dozen actives, and 1/2 dozen lookers. I have all the feeders and actives on UMS's. It looks amazing and works extremely well.

Bob-My spread is fairly small as I often hunt alone. I've got 58 decoys in my mobile rig and they include 22 motion decoys. Most of them are Avery's, but I don't have any of the new ones, so my motion stakes are the Avery Universal stakes. They work great and it makes it look like the whole spread is moving. Be careful, the motion decoys can mesmerize you if you watch them too long.

Bob-It's really an easy setup. I drive my decoy trailer right into the field, take 3 decoys at a time and set them where I want them, get out a bucket of motion stakes, place them throughout the spread and then set the decoys, which I've laid down on their backs, on the stakes. The lay down blind is an easy set up and after unloading all my gear, gun, shells, coffee, etc., I drive the truck and trailer out of the field and walk back to the setup. Nothing to it as long as you don't get in a hurry and get all sweated up. I'm 63 years old and when I get back to the blind, I take a nap.

today motion kills. Sounds to me like your spread will work great.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm too much motion? After two years of using the UMS's and now this year seeing the motion system on the FFD's,I'm getting to the point that there is never too much motion. No matter what type of set I am working I always put some motion into it. By the way smart move not using stakes on the Lookers they are just too front heavy. A little trick for the lookers, they make a great lunch line!
