Do you all prefer the Finisher blind or the power hunter blind, and in what conditions. Also do you all know if GHG is comming out with the Blue bill decoys in the oversized series and will there be a canvasback decoy. One last question wich GHG mallard decoy do you recamend
sorry for all the questions

Michael, I have hunted in several laydown blinds but I prefer the Power Hunter over them all. It's low profile helps it disappear, even in bare fields. The price is right, especially if you go with field khaki. I use it almost exclusively.

Michael,
For all-around use the PowerHunter is my go-to blind. As with Jude, I use it almost exclusively.
Both the O/S Bluebill and Canvasback are in the product line for 2005.
If space permits I like a mix of all three GHG Mallards: Hot Buys, L/S, & O/S. If pressed for space the L/S with the two head positions are my favorites.

Michael- I too prefer the Powerhutner most of the time. I like my Finisher in cornfields and there are two places we hunt ducks in about 4 inches of water and snake grass, that I wouldnt want to trade my Finisher and a neotub for anything. Both have their place, and both are well built blinds.
In small grain fields, I only use my Powerhunter.
As far as decoys, I like to mix my Mallards up like Rob does. More sizes, more head poses etc. With that said, I also like to add a 6 pack of spoonies and or widgeons in my spread. Good luck!

I prefer the Power Hunter over any of the blinds mentioned. I do however own both, Finisher and Power Hunter. The low profile contour of the Power Hunter disappears in a sparse covered field. I had to do some modifications to mine to allow me to "fit" better. As for the mallards, I prefer the Life Size model's. Can't go wrong.

I too like my Power Hunter a lot. I own a couple of them. I have a Finisher that will be starting its 4th season and have yet to have a problem with any of the blinds. They all have their place but day in and day out the Power Hunter has been my favorite. As far as mallard decoys, like Rob, I use the Hotbuys, Lifesize and Oversized mixed in with several other species that are using the areas I hunt. All the different looks really adds to the realism.

Michael,
I will go a different way than everybody else...I prefer the Finisher over the Power Hunter, even though I have hunted out of one and had some great hunts!! Alot of people have Power Hunters for sparce fields and Finishers for corn, milo, etc.... however, the way I look at it as a consumer buying a few blinds for my die hard weekends, I want the best of both worlds! That is comfort, the ability to hide, and a place to put my gear(bags, camera, gun, etc). With the Power Hunter it is a little more difficult to hide the stuff with you and for safety you lay the gun on your lap instead of in the blind......
This is all my preference and I just thought you would like to hear another(different)opinion?
Good luck with your choice...all the blinds Avery makes are outstanding!

I am a big fan of the new Field Khaki...after mudding and brushing it conceals itself extremely well and the price point versus it's licensed-camo cousins can't be beat.

I prefer the ShadowGrass pattern. Haven't used the khaki material model yet.
In my previous reply, I mentioned that I had to "modify" my PowerHunter. The reason being is I am 6,8" tall, 270 lbs and the blind was a bit short for me. So, what I did was I cut the end off, and sewed an "extension" of twenty inches to the blind. I was able to get Shadowgrass Codura to match the blind. This modification now allows me to be in a comfortable position(s). Hope this helps

I'm going to buck the trend also, and agree with Derek. All of these blinds have their place, but if I could only get ONE, it would be a Finisher, in Shadow Grass. The only reasoning I would add to what Derek stated is that you can purchase a Neo-tub and really hunt a variety of places with that blind.

Well I guess I will differ from Rob on this one. I prefer the Finisher for my type of hunting. This is the key- know what kind of terrain you will predominately hunt- then base your decision on that.
Here is what I hunt and why. I use the Finisher since I usually hunt cut corn or milo fields.I like the Finisher for this since its more comfortable but does hide well in the taller stubble vs. wheat. Also I found I shoot better when I have the taller backrest vs, being on the ground more in the Power Hunter model. Still I do own a few Power Hunters and base my decision on what to use on the height of the cover (i.e. wheat or corn, etc...) hope this helps. Just my 2 cents

I really like my Finisher. Here where I hunt it's either winter wheat, corn, or soybean fields. Once camoed it pretty well blends in the field I am in.
