TRAPPAGE, welcome to the Avery Message Boards! It is always nice to see fellows Canadians posting up. If I were you, I would get 2 dozen Feeder-Style, and 0.5 dozen Looker-Style. That will give you a solid starting spread to build on.

Trappage,

I recommend going with 3 dozen full bodies and use what I call the "3-2-1 rule". That being a ratio of 3 feeders to 2 actives to 1 looker.

I ran such a spread for most of last year and had great success!

I usually go 3:1...3 feeders to 1 actives/lookers. Just a matter of preference.

I might need to buy some more dekes so I can try the "Hungle 3:2:1 Spread". Yup, I think I need more dekes.

Man..it shure would be nice to "just" use three dz and get the job done.....
Down here you need #'s to get them to look at you...I have 6 dz GHG fullbodies, 7 dz Real Geese silos, and 3 dz GHG shells. I feel like I need more most days because of the large flocks I see.....man....this decoy bug IS sick!!

I would stick pretty close to 60% feeders and 40% uprights.......Usually this will simulate a lively, yet content group of birds......Tyson Keller, Avery Pro-Staff

Even with a group of the best goose hunters in the world, you will get several diffrent opinions. I personally run a 50/50 split with (not more then a dozen lookers) in my 17 dozen GHG Fbs. The lookers are used more in the satallite groups off the main body of the spread. My theory is as a flock approaches live birds on the ground. The birds on the ground will lift their heads to see what the commotion is about then when the flock in the air gets in, they will continue feeding. Also as you watch a live flock in a field. As the morning progresses, the birds with their bellies full, will loaf head up, waiting on the flock to finish before heading back too the roost. I feel this makes for a content and natural spread, by doing this. GOOD LUCK!

Chris YOUR RIGHT IT SEEMS WHERE EVER YOU GO WE ALL HAVE A DIFFERENT SET UP WHICH WORK'S FOR THE AREAS WE NORMALLY HUNT.THE 3-2-1 SOUND'S LIKE A HAPPY MEDIUM ON THE NUMBER OF DECOY'S YOU ARE LOOKING TO START OUT USING 2.5 BUT LIKE EVER ONE ELSE I HAVE MY OWN OPINION. (MORE FEEDERS) ;)

I might have to say to go with 3-1-2, those lookers are the most realistic dekes out there.
