Hey there, I want to get my water spread improved for next year. I am going to sell my existing spread and replace it with GHGs. I am going to get floating Canadas, Mallards, and the gadwalls when they come out in august. Will there be any changes made to the Canada Floaters and Life-sized Mallards for 2004? Should I wait for the new ones? or should I just get them now? I actually already ordered some wigeon and teal. Thanks Guys,

Buy now, wait...... the choice is really yours.
All Canada Geese heads will come flocked. The life-size mallards will have the new low head drake added to the carton. It's all up to you when you should order. Personally I would order the Canadas now. We don't get the hunting pressure on Canadas enough really to justify the flocked heads. They sure do look pretty and I am sure it makes a difference somewhere though. :D

P.S. If I did wait, it wouldn't be too long. Decoys are going to go quick the closer season gets. I am sure most places have already started a list of names that want the new GHG decoys. ;)

What are the new low heads for the Mallards? Your right about the flocking, I might see it as a detriment around water, isn't the flocking like a layer of fuzz? That would get all wet and discolored. So yeah, are the new low heads just lower heads like the hot buy ones? because I like the higher ones like this years. Will flocked heads make the Canadas more expensive in the future?

Here's a pic of the new low head life sized mallard:

I think it looks sweet and love the pose.

The flocking on the goose decoys is the velvet looking finish. From what I understand this stuff is tough. I think the said it took 30 hours submerged under water to get it to where they could scratch it off, and it was very little that would come off. It won't discolor either. Avery said that they are not raising the prices on the flocked decoys.

Hey that does look sweet! I think I will be satisfied either way. Would you be able to tell me if any changes will be made to the Widgeon and the Blue Wing Teal? Because I just ordered some of them. Thanks a lot for your help. Its much appreciated. Good Hunting.

Hey Brad we have some of the life size mallards and they are awesome.... Without questions super realistic and the paint is extremely durable...
We are also replacing all our G&H and Higdon duck floaters with Avery's.... I think were going to grab gads, wigeons, mallards, and sprigs....

CGB,
Not sure of any changes coming to the wigeon as of this year. The bluewing teal will have an original bluewing teal hen added, instead of the greenwing teal hens that were used in 2003.
Not sure if you will get the 2003 models or the 2004 models.

Hey Fanatic, So then how much are you going to sell your old dekes for? I am going to try and sell my flambeaus but I don't know how much I should charge. They are all Standard Mallards, 3 duck butts, 4 Canvasbacks, and 3 Floating Canadas. I don't know what to ask for, I want them to sell but still don't want to lose all my money.

not sure really, but i do know I will take a loss, not a big deal really, especially considering a guy is replacing them with better birds for around $40/dozen... Thats just sweet, lifesize weighted keel dekes for 40 beans per 12... I paid double that for all my G&H and Higdons and wish they looked that good...
By the way did you go ahead and put on the 150 for the SR-1???

I am most likely going to follow suit with Canadian Goose Buster. I have about 4 dozen malards, pintails, bums, sleepers mixed. I don't know what to sell them for. The only thing that might keep me from doing it is the fact that GHG does not have a supplier in Canada. therefore it bumps up the price another 40

Hey John, Good point, I guess you can't really put a price on that kind of quality. I never got the SR-1, (for all the time I spent talking about it.) I will. I was going to order it but then decided against it. I think I will when we get into more honker hunting, but right now we do sooo much snow goose hunting. Where we are, there is so many snows that its mostly what we do until the end of the seson. So I am putting money into my snow spread. The snow dekes are all home made. I am going to order an awesome water spread too when all the new dekes come out in August. Good Hunting.

I have also had some questions like this. My dilema of buying gear and decoys ect... say before this summer is that all the new blinds, gear, clothing, decoys will all be out supposivly by the end of this summer. So I just thought I would keep saving up and spend the summer on the newer and improved stuff when it first comes out. Or if I like some of the old stuff better, get it from guys selling the old stuff to get new stuff for a great price.

I was going to super size my duck spread this summer with G&h and Flambeau super mags but due to the super paint job and relistic shape of the oversize Averys I have decided to go all Avery O/s.Going to do the same with my goose spread.I am waiting untell early fall to make sure I get the newest decoys Avery has out.
