Hello,
I know you are a big part of the greenhead gear production, but I was wondering if you still had faith in using outlaw silhouttes like you used to. I know the company has had some problems. Also did the quality of thier product go down? I purchased four dozen from them in four years and it seemed every year they looked worse in fact the ones I bought the first year still look like they just came out of the box and the newest ones have most of the paint scratched off them and I treat them with extreme care. They also have an orangish side and a greenish side.

Jamie,

Fred is overseas but will be home in a couple weeks. As soon as he returns he will be able to answer your question.

Your question does hit home for me though. Before Greenhead Gear I was a huge fan of Outlaw decoys. Some of the Older Outlaws were awesome when it came to color and durability. But as time went on I also received decoys that were red and greenish looking especially when I used them in the snow, they seemed to break a lot easier too. I busted many nuckles trying to push them in the ground. My older Outlaws still look great to where my most recent Outlaws were thrown in the trash. So Yes, I too have noticed a difference in their quality.

I am glad I am not the only one, it took three years to accept the situation. I loved those decoys and they were very effective. My favorite was when geese would circle a couple of times, start to head away, and all of a sudden come back and dive right in. The illusion of movement was crucial. I wonder if anyone still has the older ones and would sell some. Hint to Avery, produce a product just like outlaw used to be. They would sell like hotcakes. I had to switch to real geese pros. But there is nothing comparable to that early product.

I have never used the older style but for the newer ones I can say this....

I ahve had 3 heads break off of them and I have used these decoys less then a dozen times. Probably around 8 times. I also had one just break into pieces when I was puting it into the ground. I have heard that real geese make awesome durable silos but I have never used them.

I have some of the Outlaw speck silos and they have scratched really easy and have a green tint to them as well.

Real Geese Pro Series is the way to go. These are by far and away the most durable silo's money can buy. I accidentally shot one this past year while dispatching a cripple and it was COLD that day but the decoy didn't shatter or break...it just took the pellets right thru it and that was it. I think that the textured side on these decoys not only adds a new dimension to silo's but also some extra strength. I can't imagine if they take them a step further and put the textured fabric finish on both sides....hmmm...that sounds like the making of the "ultimate silo".

Anyone ever tried the Big Flock decoys... There not photo printed, but pretty close. They retail for around 80$ a doz. Cheaper than most other brands I belive. Any ways just looking for your input on the deeks. My dad wants some silo's for next year like mabey 2 doz. at the most and I recomended the Big Flocks to him, because all the testomonies on the web page seemed great. Don't know how ligitament they where but they where great anyway.Thanks.
