ok i bought a lm-1 and i got to looking at and the reed isnt shaved but it seems to be a thinner material but all the other ones i have seen have shaved reeds my call doesnt sound bad or anything im just curious thanks

Field and Clay are in Canada at this time. They would be the ones that could answer your question. I like unshaved reeds in my calls. In my opinion, I can get a fuller/deeper sound. Plus I can still get that loud crack for calling geese on windy days. The LM-1 is a great meat call. Go to the link below and when the Zink guys get back from Canada, they will send you a response.

The PM-1 is the only Zink goose call that normally would come with an un-shaved reed. The LM-1 should have a shaved reed in it. The job that the guys do in shaving the reed is really nice. At first glance, it may look like an un-shaved reed although it should be shaved. Did you get the call in a trade or buy it used? Perhaps someone changed the reed. If I can be of further assistance, let me know.
