I was just wondering what all went in to being a field-staffer.

What are the kicks of the job??
What are the not so good parts??

Are their any perks??? Like field testing?? Just wondering

I am assuming you are reffering to the prostaff? The coolest part bar none is meeting all the people. People that you have talked to on here, maybe helped on here, and then meeting them in person.
Meeting and getting to work with some of the best duck and goose callers on earth and learning first hand from them and improving ourselves is definately an added bonus.
The not so good parts? I dont think there is any. You get paid to talk hunting and calling, and get other ideas from the guys you meet. Its all good!

It is deffinately a positive experience. I really enjoy talking with others that share the same interest as myself and the ideas that are shared are great as well. I find the better the callers are that you are around the better caller you become too.

It is a lot of fun for sure.

I like talking to other hunters and sharing tips and tactics to help make us all better waterfowlers.
I also have a passion for Avery products, and have so for a very long time. I have used alot of Avery gear with great success. Being on the prostaff, helps me let more and more people know what Avery and its products are all about.
Products that are made for hunters by hunters and know what ''The Waterfowler'' needs and expects from its gear.It has been a honor for me to be a small part of such a great company.

It’s more a question of what we don’t do. Avery pro-staffers represent Avery at shows, on the Internet and in the field, both in the United States and Internationally. We are a group of people that love to hunt and would sooner hunt, talk about hunting or think about hunting than anything else. We test new products in the field and provide product performance feedback to help Avery produce high quality and functional equipment to make other hunters’ time afield enjoyable and productive. It brightens our day to see new concepts develop into products that hunters can use afield and to help newcomers and kids harvest their first bird or animal. We hunt safe, we hunt smart and we hunt ethically. Bottom line is we represent the hunting community and promote hunting whenever we can. Personally, I’ve never had a bad experience as an Avery pro-staff member and thoroughly enjoy my involvement!

i think a field staffer goes and retrieves the pro staffers ducks tongue.gif im just ribbing you guys....
i think if your going to want to be a pro staffer you better have some thick skin these days cause with all the complaining this generation and maybe the one before does about products these days some have a REAL problem thats ok call them up and exchange it but if you have B/S problem such as i have used my decoys 6 times toss them in the back of the truck bouncing around rubbing each other in the bags wrapping the weights around the necks, frozen in the ice and breaking them loose and you got a paint chip be a man and touch it up if its that critical to you i have decoys so old they dont even have any paint on them use them as fillers in the field and dont plan on ever painting them lol why fix it when its working ..another example i read on the internet i found amusing my gun case is coming apart at one of them seams its been through 2 seasons good lord get your wife, girlfriend, mom, aunt to sow it back together he could have sewn it back together by the time the guy got on the internet made a post about the product he could have fixed to problem himself :D thats all i got to say about that
everyone sorry i may have got off the topic of these thread lol
have a great season

I being an international Pro Staffer living in Iceland of all places ;) one might think that I would be a sort of an outsider. Far from it. From day one I have been made to feel that I am one of the family. In my mind that just shows what kind of people the Avery people are. smile.gif

I have gotten to share views with some really knowledgeable people not only when it comes to hunting waterfowl but also in terms of hunting products. I always like to learn more and try to become better as a hunter.

For Avery to have Pro-Staffers in other countries, in my mind just shows how willing Avery is to provide their customers with the service of being able to see and read about how foreign hunters go about doing things. I am of course referring to the diaries on Avery´s web site.

When the new web site will be up and running look for pictures and stories on waterfowl hunting in Iceland and how Avery products fit in to that picture.

So far I am loving being a Pro-Staffer and hope that I will be able to repay the people who have made me feel like one of the family someday.

Guys,

Being an Avery Pro-Staffer takes a real dedication of time and energy. It is not all free hunts and free stuff. As a matter of fact "free" is not a word that I would associate with the program. "Earn" would be more appropriate. The Avery Pro-Staff is an integral part of the company's dealer support network: one that will become an industry model and only the most qualified and focused people are asked to join. I am pleased to be responsible for managing this great group of people and am glad to see the spirit of the program reflected in the answers on this thread by Avery Pro-Staffers. I have pasted below the text from the upcoming Avery Website about Avery Pro-Staffers and the program.

About the Avery Pro-Staff

The Avery® Pro-Staff is a group of some of the nation’s most highly skilled waterfowl hunters who have agreed to give up some of their precious time to help spread the word about Avery® and Greenhead Gear®. This “super group” has been assembled with one major goal which is to assist our dealers with sales and service of Avery® and Greenhead Gear® products.

In today’s high-tech hunting market, many of our dealers find it next to impossible to keep full staffs of employees trained to sell all of the new products that are offered each season by a multitude of manufacturers. The Avery® Pro-Staff is highly trained in all aspects of our product lines so they can answer just about any question a customer can throw their way. These guys are duck and goose hunters first and foremost, but most of them can hunt just about anything that makes a track.

Our Pro-Staff wrote the book on walking the walk and talking the talk, and their experience in the field combined with their product knowledge makes them perfect “extras” for our dealers’ retail events where you might see them answering questions about one of our layout blinds, stocking shelves with products, putting on seminars or sweeping floors. These guys can and will do anything our dealers ask them to do, and they do it better than anybody else in this business!

How to Become a Pro-Staffer

The Avery Pro-Staff is made up of a diverse group of outdoorsmen from all over the world sharing many things in common: they all love the outdoors, they all possess a wealth of knowledge about hunting that puts them in a special category and they all have a part in making Avery the company that it is.

Being a part of this special team requires hard work and a commitment of time and energy that many cannot make. Avery welcomes anyone who feels they have the time and energy to commit to the Pro-Staff program, but we want to stress up front that ours is a team approach so you must be a team player or you will not fit into this group. If you can meet these simple requirements and feel that you have what it takes to be a member of the Avery Pro-Staff, then we welcome your application!

Applicants may apply by visiting the Pro-Staff section of the Avery website you are visiting now.

Thanks,
Rob Jepson

For a guy to become a pro-staffer does he have to be some big named guy in the waterfowl world or can some joe smoe that loves Avery/GHG equipment and wants to inform other people about this great equipment and help people with questions about the product line. Just wondering about this.

glider, I am no big name hunter.Yes, my passion for this sport runs very deep. Its a 12 month out of the year thing with me not just the 4-5 months I spend hunting. I am an avid duck and goose hunter who spends time hunting with family and friends passing what I have learned over the years to my younger nephews in hopes of making them better waterfowlers.
Every year I hunt or associate with guys in the field or on these forums, I pic up tips that I can apply to make myself a better hunter, and try to help other hunters in the same manner. You just never stop learning. For myself, I have used Avery products for a very long time, and they have worked well in the harsh element of hunting ragspreads in muddy ricefields in southwest Louisiana and have never let me down.
I have enjoyed spreading the word about Avery products because I know they work.
Being asked to join the Avery pro staff was a honor for me and enjoy it very much, but even if I was not associated with Avery, I have nothing but good things to say about their gear that accompanies me affield every winter.

Thanks Jed for the reply. I will always spread the word to who ever I talk to about Avery and GHGs great products and also how much help the Avery company and Pro-Staffers are in helping everyone who needs it. Iam not a person who does alot of posting on this forum but I have learned a great deal about waterfowling on this forum. I give everyone associated with Avery/GHG a big thumbs up and a big Thank You for what you guys do for the Waterfowl World.

Thanks,
Levi
