Hey guys, this is probably a stupid question but it's defintely been a problem for me lately. With the temperature change in the mornings, my GHG decoys get wet and shine from the frost on their backs. The geese have been flaring on me pretty bad on the frosty sunny mornings. What do you all do to minimize the shine or stop it? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Avery for the great decoys and helpful staff!!!!!
Thanks,
D. Andrews

Hi,
to solve this problem, you have to spray the decoy with a mix of winshield washer fluid and alcohol (about 20%). This way, the frost will dispear !

Thanks Jim,
Does that mixture hurt the paint at all?

dandrews,
I do two different things for this depending on the situation.
If I know the geese will be coming out late, depending on weather, what you are hunting, etc.., then I do not put them out till close to sun up...I learned this from Avery Pro Staffer Jim Thompson in South Dakota. Another fix, if you have to put them out early, is to have a bunch of towels or rags to place on top of each decoy...this takes alot of time but if you get there early you will have no problem doing it and the effort is worth any shining decoy!!
Hope this helps and let us know how it went on your next hunt!!!

Hi Dandrews,
I did say about 20% of alcohol, but 5-10% would be enough !
This mixture doesn't damage the paint, we are doing that for several years on our Bigfoot...

DANDREWS,
These guys are all right, and Derek Rambo is too, I will set my decoys at late as possible even if it my cost us a couple of early fights. Also you can by Windsheild wiper fuild in a de-
Icer form. Peak makes it, and we go through alot of it in the Dakotas. Good luck hunting hopefully these tips help out next time you are in the field.
