I've been a RNT user for years and base about all I know about duck calls off of my experience with RNT. I've been hearing alot about the new Zink Power Hen, but haven't been able to see or hear one for myself.

How do they compare to RNT or which RNT would be the closest to compare the Power Hen to, might be the better question. I realize that it isn't a ringer, so is it more comparable to the short barrel or daisy cutter than the original?? Is it more of a timber style call like the old style or timbre??

I have read that the XR-2 requires a different style of air presentation...does the Power Hen require the same as the XR-2 or is it more like a traditional single reed.

Finally, is it used or can it be seen in the 24-7 video and what do those that own or have owned one think of this call for various hunting situations from timber to open water?

Sorry for all the questions, but when you've been as die hard for RNT as I have been, it takes a lot to get me convinced into buying another call...haha.

Chris,

I'm a RNT duck call man myself and I use the Short Barrel & Daisy Cutter.....this past week I was in S Dakota with the great Dakota Jim and he let me blow his Power Hen. Man was I hooked!!!
It blows alot like a Short Barrel with maybe a little more duck in it, if you can believe that. It is larger than the XR-2 and blows like a traditional single reed.
I will be getting one of these to add to my, already way too full, callin' string for sure!!!

Hope this helps and give the Power Hen a try...you will not be dissapointed!

Chris,

I have both an XR-2 and a Power Hen. Derek is correct in that it blows like a traditional single reed call. My Power Hen is tuned light. The Power Hen has a great pure duck sound. I believe they used both the Power Hen and XR-2 in the 24/7 DVD. I use my Power Hen on large rivers and small ponds. In my opinion, the Power Hen would be at home in the Timber as well as big water or flooded rice fields. I would give Zink Calls a call and let them demonstrate the call over the phone. Give Field or Clay a call at (937) 832-3436.
