New to boat blinds. I have just purchased a 18'*75" lowe jon boat and have decided on an Avery blind. Shold I go with the 16-18 foot or the 17-19 foot also is there a problem using an avery dog platform with these blinds?
Thanking all in advance,

Rick,
A quick check on the web site shows that the curreent models are for 14-16' Length/68" Beam boats and 17-19' Length/84" Beam boats. Ok, that said i have had my quick set on a 17 foot Parker for somewhere around 7 years now. if i recall my father and i decided to buy the smaller blind to save money. yep thats right, i said i am cheep. it works just great. but i will admit that i wish i had the larger blind. it would have covered the bow and stern much better.
Just as a side note. i think this is one of the best investments i have ever made for our waterfowling. My father, son and i hunt the Currituck Sound in North Carolina. Currituck is big water. we sometimes travel 20 ish miles to our blind sites. the Quick Set has enabled us to spend more time on the water and less time messing with the old traditional style float blinds. we have used it right up against the marsh, in open water and along small back water creeks. Good Luck

Rick,
I have used an Avery Quick-Set Blind for the past 5 seasons with great success. I have gunned Canada Geese, puddle ducks, and divers. I have used my Quick-Set in open water, wooded shoreline, and marshes. Rick you will need the 17/19 model. This will be large enough to go across the beam of your boat. I have a Lowe 1960 Roughneck. When I mounted my blind, I left the front deck open for my retriever. My retriver could exit off of the front deck and enter and exit the water with the aid of Avery's Double Duty Retriver Platform. This year I added a Killerweed Boat Blind Kit to my Quick-Set. This will enhance the 3D look of the die cut cerex blind material. The Killerweed also further breaks up the blinds profile. I have attached a link below, if you want additional information on Avery's Killerwed. If you have any other questions regarding the Quick-Set, contact the Avery Customer Service Department at 800-333-5119. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the tips, although the avery blinds seem to be to popular, their sold out! Thats ok I'll wait! Thanks for brining up Killer weed, does it get in the way of shooting? does it interfere with fliping the blind open?
Thanks rick

Rick,
Killerweed is the perfect product to enhance your blind's camoflage without adding any noticable weight. Killerweed will not effect the Quick-Set blinds operation, nor will it effect your shooting.
Is it a good idea to add the Avery Quick Set Waterfowl Blind Stablizer Kit since my boat is 18 feet. Sorry for all the questions!

Rick,
My boat is 19'. I do not have the Stabilizer Kit installed, but it will be next season. My Quick-Set Blind does have a sag with Die Cur Cerex blind material and Killerweed installed. The Stabilzer Kit would be an absolute necessity if you are going to use Real Grass. Real Grass is heavier than Killerweed or Die Cut Cerex. Keep asking questions. We are more than happy to help when we can.
One more question, it seems I can order the 16-18 foot blind, I was thinking of using the neomat in shadow grass for the bow as a dog spot. Should I ride it out this season and wait for the 17-19 foot or jump on the smaller one.
Thanks
Rick

Rick,
That blind will be long enough for your boat. You need to verify if the blind will be wide enough. If you are unsure if the blind will fit your boat, contact Avery's Customer Service Department with the attached link.
They will provide you the necessary guidance for selecting the correct blind.

Here's what I ordered, Avery® Quick-Set™ Waterfowl Boat Blind - 16'-18' - Mossy Oak Shadow Grass. Figure that my cockpit is actually 16 feet aprox. So I should have the option to cover the bow or not. Still like the idea of using the neomat, or camoclad for the bow deck for the dogs. Will also be using the killer weed on the blind and the bow! I am way to excited about this! Any tips you can give me on installation, camo, etc. would be great, and thanks for all your help!
Cheers Rick
OK, one more question! I'm looking at adding a scavenger mud motor to my boat, or another brand of mud motor. Will I be able to turn the motor 90 degrees then put the blind up for shooting? Or what do other hunters do to get aroung the handle problem?
Cheers
