Question for anyone who may know what organization banded this bird, the band has (CHESAPEKE BAND WR-98) on it, nothing else.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
PS: The duck is still alive, we caught it while feeding it corn and got the info off the band.

This would be a good one for Jepson or Tiny. If you find out where it came from, please post the information here.

I AM GOING TO TALK TO ROB JEPSON LATER TODAY. MY EDUCATED GUESS IT IS A BIRD THAT WAS BANDED AT A REGULATED SHOOTING AREA. WE HAVE QUITE A FEW IN THE CHESAPEAKE AREA. HALF OF MY DUCK BANDS ARE DUCKS RELEASED FROM R.S.A.'S. WAS THE DUCK A MALLARD? EACH R.S.A. HAS TO BAND THE BIRDS THEY RELEASE. IF ROB HAS MORE INFORMATION, I WILL HAVE HIM POST LATER TODAY.

I checked around and my sources say it has a good chance of being from Chesapeake Farm in the Chestertown/Rock Hall area of Maryland. Chesapeake Farm is the current name for the old Remington Farm property.
My source also politely cautions anyone to be very careful not to break any existing migratory bird/state/ federal game laws (unintentional as it might be)regarding the capture of live waterfowl and then posting them on internet message boards.
Hope this helps...

Yes it was a drake mallard. The only reason we grabbed this particular mallard was because we saw that he had an unusul band (the writing on it). It took 5 seconds and the bird was gone again, i know this doesn't excuse the act. Trust me, if we wanted bands, we could have grabbed 5 others, one with 2 bands on it. I assume the 2 banded bird was probably a money band. Thanks for the responses, greatly appreciated.
