I called Southern Game Calls and talked to Greg Hood for about 15 minutes on differences between the Signature Series Nasty Boy, and the S S Little Joel. I hunt mainly farm ponds, small marshes, and flooded cornfields. anyone use either of these calls? if so, How is the Top end on the Nasty Boy, or the Low end on the Little Joel? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

I have both calls. I am no expert on calling, but my opinion is the Little Joel has a better high end. The Nasty Boy can be tempermental in the field. The single reed tends to lock up.

I still use both calls. The sound is as good as it gets.

How "Ducky" is the low end on the Little Joel? And how much volume did you get out of the Nasty Boy?

I think the Lil Joel has better "high end".
I think the Nasty is better on the "low end".

The volume on the Nasty was enough to bring in ducks from a long ways away.

Both calls are very similar in overall sound.
I think you would be happy with either call.
Again, remember the issues with a single reed when hunting. I am no expert, but this is my actual experiences with these calls while Waterfowling in MI.

I have used Greg Hood calls for about six years. And they are probably the best calls on the market. You do not get the big name like a Righ n Tone or a Echo. But Greg's calls do one thing they put the Mallards on you. I use a Banded Little Joel Cocabolla and I also use one of his orginal Acrylic Calls. His Little Joel calls will do what ever you want them to do it just depends on how well of a caller you are. I have use these to calls, in various hunting situtions. They can be as loud as I want them, Hunting Big Lakes and wide open Rice Fields, and then super quiet, Hunting potholes, marshes, and Flooded Timber. His calls do not stick if you do not spit real heavy while calling. But I do not care what kind of call you buy if you do not know how to call right, and fill the call up with spit it is going to stick, Because for the Simple Fact Water will Freeze. But if you want a great call buy a Banded CocaBolla Little Joel, and also a Orginal Acrylic. These will be the only tow calls you will need and they will last you forever if you take care of them.

Nothing Like Mallards in the Flooded Timber
