Has anybody had any encouraging results when using kites or “String-O-Wings”? I’ve tried both and can’t say they have actually drawn in birds. The String-O-Wings have never worked for me. I have brought birds in when using “Killer Kites”, but I believe the birds came in cupped and committed because of the “Fully Flocked Elite” GHG’s, I use. I do use a flag when birds are distant or to lure attention when needed, this works fine. I do not own a “Higdon Flapper” but am curious what others think of the manual pull unit or the power unit (that could be outlawed)?

My motion comes from my decoys and from flagging. We have had very good luck with kites huting light geese but not to great of luck hunting canada's. As far as the string of wings, thats one item I have never tried and from the reports I have read that is a good thing.

FOr dark geese a flag and the avery motion bases and universal motion stakes on your decoys will give you all the movement you need.

Goose- A flag or two, and 1/3 or so of your spread on motion stakes and you will be more than set! Much better than the string o wings idea or kites.

I’ve had the String-O-Wings for at least 3 seasons, used occasionally with no success. When I purchased these it was described in Cabela’s Waterfowl catalog as a revolutionized product that is very rarely found and would completely change the way goose hunters hunt. Apparently I may be one of the few suckered into this deal. The kites I used last season on green colored 5’ tomato stakes and a short length of spiderwire didn’t seem to distract or (that I knew) commit the big birds.
Thanks for the advice on motion stakes, I do have my GHG, Fully Flocked Full Body feeder, active, and the Oversized shells already on the stakes. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the ticket to success. I am still considering the Dynamic Decoys manual flapper or possibly the remote electronic flapper, (if allowed this season in the state of Illinois).

last year my buddy got a wing waver decoy which works good for us. i have been bored so i ordered a set of the wings from wing waver and attached them to one of my now retired since i relized how much better ghg dekes are higdon full bodies. i just finished it tonight but cant wait to try it out it honestly looks awesome. there have three or for small flockeds of resident birds coming over in the morning and sitting on a pond 1/2 mile away. being as how i cant shoot until the 1st of sept. they are gonna be my test dummys for this decoy(catch and release of course) i'll let you know if they work in on the decoy or not

My brother bought the string of wings back in the days when we really had no idea what we were doing. I do believe it actually worked for us once. The day it worked we used it more like a flag that a permenant fixture. We had the wings stretched between two long dow rods, and stretched the wings between two layout blinds. We were picking up the dows and it looked pretty similar to a landing flock. Worked pretty well that day as I remember. Didn't kill a pile of birds, but we did get a lot of interest from the ones we saw.
