What type of boots are you hunters wearing in the field? I have an old pair of pull-on Sorel’s that are pretty good, until it gets extremely cold, i.e. 20F to -10F. When it gets this cold I go to a pair of pull-on Redwings, but this boot is too heavy. Just wondering what you guys think of the Muck boot company. Does anybody have a pair? Or would you suggest a different type or style? I’m not into lacing boots and prefer the pull-on type.

I never got the chance to see any of Muck boot company.
The Cabela's Comfort Trac Rubber Boots are great. Ankle fit design, very confortable and warm.

gooseflocker- I am not familiar with the Muck company. I typically wear nothing but Rocky boots, even when it's cold. I do wear them with nothing but wool socks, which seems to help insulate greatly. If I know I am going to be sitting for an extended time, I do switch to my Redball pack boots. Again with nothing but wool. I have also found that keeping the rest of my body warm, but not overheated, helps keep me from getting cold later too.

There is not another boot on the market that has the comfort of the Muck boots.
Alot of boot companies are going to the stretch tops like them, but the walking/overall comfort of these boots can not be matched anywhere.
It's like walking on air!

I will agree whole heartedly! These are the best boots I've ever used. They are also very tough. I'm still on my first pair that I bought 4 years ago. You can't go wrong with these IMHO

I really like my Muck boots, very comfortable. Almost all I ever wear. If it is a regular boot I can't find anything to beat my Danners, for work or the field.

Amen to Muck's. Wore Rocky's all my life until I started going to the Haydel duck camp as a guest five or six years ago. Slipped on a pair of Muck's while I was down there and now it is my prime boot to wear turkey hunting, field hunting, and getting to and from the marsh. Unless it is frigid cold where I need to get out the packs, I am usually wearing my Muck Boot Comany fieldmasters. Light, durable, and comfortable.

Man in cold weather I wear Danner 1000 gr boots with Smartwool socks. It can get pretty cold in the late goose season, I don't know about rubber boots in that weather...

When it gets bitter or we are hunting the ice I use the Cabelas 1500 gram Thinsulate Leather Pac boots. They are extremely warm and I don't put them on until it is really cold.

Tony, being a Northerner, as you are, I should have taken your advice... just want you’ll to know I did purchase the Muck boot earlier this fall. I really like the boot, they fit nice and are extremely comfortable. Please be aware the boot does not keep your feet warm in cold weather!! I have also found tears in the upper leg surface of the boot. This, after one season of hunting in harvested cornfields/soy bean fields does not seem right. Has anyone else experienced problems with the Muck boot?

Columbia introduced the Duck Club boot this year which is marketed toward the Muck Boot Company customer. I did purchase a pair and see these as a improvement over the Muck Boot Company Edgewater 12" boot. Primarily they are lighter and have a better fit for me. When purchasing this style boot customers want to be aware of what they are using the boot for. If you plan on using the boot for walking thru muck then you would want a tighter fit so they do not pull off when you encounter conditions. If you are purchasing the boot for field hunting you will want a fit which is slightly looser to accomidate sock selections. If you purchase a tight fitting Muck boot that you plan to use field hunting your feet will be uncomfortable and restricking of circulation. When it gets really cold these are not the boots to use field hunting.

Gooseflocker, which Muck model to you have? The ones that I and my seven year old son have I believe are called Artic  but I'm not sure. I wear my bib legs over the boot pipes so I've not torn mine but I could see if one tucked his pants in them tearing pretty easily.
I have two models of the Muck boot, the one has no warming factor to it and is my early season and dog training boot. My Artic  model is what I wear when it gets cold. I also bought my cold weather ones a half size bigger so accomodate polypro liners covered by a cold weather sock. Very toasty, almost too much at times.

I have an old pair I have owned for almost 20 years and they are hell to take off.

Troy, I purchased the “Muck Woody Max Boot” for $114.95. I did in fact earlier in the season tuck my pants into the boot. Later when I was wearing heavier bibs the pants were over the boot. The boot is rated to -40F. What I believe happens is when setting-up my feet get extremely warm and sweat. Then while laying in my Migrator or Powerhunter, not moving, things change rapidly  I do notice that my feet are of no concern when the birds are cupping-in :D

I'm a big fan of La Crosse. I've got a pair of 800's that are awesome.

the main thing to keeping your feet warm is the room your foot has in the boot. Hunting in cold weather with a pair of boots that are to small is hell. I bought a pair of the La Cross Grange boots and love them these boots have a very snug ankle so you can order them a half to full size bigger and nit have to wory about them slipping off or being too lose to walk around in.

I have been wearing the Predator Extreme Pac Boot by Cabela's and they are a very comfortable and warm boot. I've used them in extreme weather and never had cold wet feet.
