Duck & Goose decoys together?

I would be interested in hearing some opinions and thoughts on decoys spreads when field hunting for ducks and geese. Do you mix your duck and goose decoys together? I have always been of the mind set that geese will land short of duck decoys, and ducks will land at the front of a spread. I always try not to mix duck dekes with goose decoys, but sometimes I wonder if this doesn't present a natural look to the birds as they are working. Any thoughts or tips are appreciated!

From what I've seen hunting ducks in a field is they will land right on top of you in the morning and stop short at night. This is with goose decoys out. So when using duck decoys out with your goose decoys in the morning, I would put them right around you, and in the evening I would split the two and put my ground blind in the middle somewhere. Let them work, they will circle forever and tempt you, but be patient they will finish and be right there. Some of the closest shot's I've had where field hunting ducks.

I have used duck decoys as seperate units away from my goose decoys and mixed right in with my goose decoys. What dictates how I set up is how the ducks and geese are interacting while I'm scouting. If the birds are mixed together, my decoys get mixed together. If the birds are segregated, then I try to keep the two species apart when setting up decoys.

If geese are more predominant in the area, they make up the bulk of my spread or vice versa if ducks are the main species feeding in a field.
