Any opinions on the Mossberg 935? I shoot a Benelli Nova and love it but I'm looking at a semi-automatic

I've never owned a 935 but I've got a buddy that has one and he loves it. Only problem is you can't shoot light loads, they won't cycle out. This is a major problem IMO if you hunt doves...$7.00 a box v/s $3.00 a box for shells. I shoot a stoeger 2000 12ga semi auto. I got it in realtree hardwoods hd for $400.00. It shoots great and its relatively cheap for a semi auto. The only drawback for it is it won't shoot 3-1/2" shells. I don't have a need for the 3-1/2" shells so it really isn't a problem for me. It has the same inner workings as the SBE1 (so they say) and takes the same choke tubes as the benelli nova. Hope this helps you decision.

I bought one last year when my primary gun needed some repairs. Only shoots 3"-3 1/2". Worked well in the early season for me, but in the late season it tended to malfunction. Of course our late season is constant rain and I used it in the salt water regularly. It was cleaned every night it went out, but still had several fail to cycle/feed problems. Caused enough irritation that I went back to a pump for the last month of season. Quite possibly it was due to it being new and not broken in. Decent gun overall.

If you love to shoot the Nova maybe you should look at the new Benelli SBE. I myself shoot a Beretta Xtrema but shot a new SBE today at the clay range and it was a dream to shoot as the Nova is also.
I have no experience with the Mosberg, sorry.

I shot the 935 a few times last season and it worked great for me. Unfortunatly the gun I used I borrowed from my buddy to test it out and he ended up having problems with the gun cycling shells. Once that problem was solved he had an incident when the gun would not fire at all. After an extensive repair the gun seems to be working. Cold weather conditions tend to give the gun problems in my opinion and observation.
