This has nothing do with hunting but i see some of the pictures you all post on this web page and i was wondering what kind of set up you have for a camera. Is it digital, and if so what kind and what zoom lenses do you use. The camera you have are you satisfied or would you make a change. I am asking because i am stuck on a decision between the Nikon and Cannon.
Thanks
Michael

Michael,
Your right, there are a lot of different cameras out there today.
I have a Kodak Easy Share DX6490 4.0 mega pixel, with 10X zoom, and I love this camera.

Michael,

I have used Nikon cameras for years. I recently purchased one of the new Nikon D70s models and love it!

I said this in another thread, my next digital will have burst capability. There are some out there that will do anywhere from 4 to 12 shot bursts. That will help with getting the action photos.

I have had great luck with the Canon digital SLR's......The digital Rebel and 10-D are great cameras, and are relatively affordable bodies.......I definitely am thinking about upgrading to the 20-D model if I can afford it in the next year......Also, without a tri-pod, a zoom lense up to 300mm works well in the blind for taking pics of incoming birds......Tyson Keller, Avery Pro-Staff

Chappy - I have the same setup and I'm very happy with it. The zoom on it has done a wonderful job so far. I only wish I had it last season.

Here is one of my favorites from spring. 1 Week after getting the 6490.

Here is another one that I really like

If you can afford it go with the Canon 20D over Nikon SLR. If you are chosing between digital SLR. The Canon is great on start up time and burst rates. On jpg format you can crank out over 20 images in a row and does not take but a second to start shooting again. Makes flying shots so much easier. The Canon also has better image quality over the Nikon right now. But that may change next month as the jump back and forth when the release new items. Good luck. I love "shooting" birds in the spring with my camera.

Like Tyson, I am a big fan of the Canon SLR's. I have a 20D and have been very pleased with its performance to date. Purchased it in the spring so I am really looking forward to getting it out in the goose fields this season! Sitting on the fence regarding which telephoto to get : Tamron 200-500mm or the Canon EL 100-400mm IS. Decisions, decisions...

One of the best digital cameras on the market and one that gets great reviews is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5. It is easy to use but has advanced features for those that like to tweak and use auto settings.

Watch out for zooms. People rave about their zoom capacity but if isn't an optical zoom rating it is waste of time (such as digital zoom) and pixels especially in the field as you need to be rock steady on high zoom cameras. This camera has a 12x optical (+4x digital) and image stabilization which is more important than most people realize. Ever try to take a video without anti-shake on. Similar with cameras when zoomed in, you get blurry fuzzy pictures.

This camera has a great lens, great zoom, burst mode, image stabilization, and is smaller than most others to name a few.

Another great option from Canon is the S2-IS. Similar features as mentioned in the Panasonic, just a little bigger size, not quite as good of pictures, but better video mode if important. I bought the FZ5 and it was a great investment.

i agree with a cannon also! just got a D60 with a 75-300 lens and the shots of my son in soccer so far look awesome! i believe i can go to an 8 burst shot in very little time! can't wait to try this in the early season (it will be a "fair" weather cam) my other cannon will be the beater! good luck...phil
