Hey guys. I am wondering where exactly you guys shot that goose hunt in Whistling Wings 7? Fred Zink and Kelly Powers were there. It was in Saskatchewan, but where? What was the nearest town? and when was it? Thanks A lot.

That footage was shot in September '02 at Grant Kuyper's place in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan.

Thanks, you wouldn't happen to know what kind of calls they were using? It looked like Kelly Powers was using a Blackfoot from Haydel. Is that right? How about the rest of them? Thanks.

I am sure Kelley Powers was using the goose call he designed for RNT.

I could be wrong but think he was using his hedge supermag and a green acrylic RNT ????
Believe Fred was using his LM-1 mostly..?????
Birds were mostly Hutchies too...

Fred was using his own call. Kelley was blowing a green acrylic Tim Grounds short magnum. That hunt was filmed before they designed the RNT/Powers call.

On a side note, knowing it is a TG short mag goes to show a guy how much more full/deep worn in guts make the call, cause that Short Mag sounded wicked full... Gotta love Powers sound, boy is king IMO...
Just watched the vid again, and think maybe Fred was using his PC, not his LM ??????
I suppose the birds were all GIANTS too... LOL...
hehehe...

I was there for a few days. I think Chris is right. What I can tell is that it was pretty impressive sounding. Those boys can pull geese in, just as if they were on a string. What you see in the video only scrapes the surface.

Mike....I think I have an idea... I start bringin over the beer and pizza, you somehow find a way to invite your little buddy along to meet a few of these legends.... :D
One of these years, I'm going to start begging, so I just figured you might as well enjoy a few cold ones and double pepperoni pie in the mean time... LOL...

John, you kill me. I'll see what I can do. I'm hoping that later this summer I'll be able to give you another new product demo. My neigbours still look at me funny for setting up a decoy/blind display on my lawn.

Hey Mike. I am full of questions. Do you hunt with the American Avery pros on a regular basis? Like Zink and Powers?
Do you get all the Avery gear strait from Avery? Why don't the shops around here deal with any Avery stuff? Like great northern rod and reel, or tnt?

Brad,
I usually hunt with fellow Avery guys a couple times a year. The rest of my hunts are usually on my own with my buddies or with other writers from across North America. Many times the Avery gear I'm using is the stuff you will see next year. As for where to get Avery stuff, I know Wholesale Sports carries some. In addition, we are working more and more towards getting Avery product into Saskatchewan and Canada. Next time you're in one of those stores, mention Avery products to them. If they ask you about contact info, have them call me and I'll fill them in.
Hope this helps!

Mike,
Looking forward to the demos my man...This way I can get a few calling lessons in as well when I'm there...
Brad,
Did you happen to choose/buy a call yet, if so what did you go with???
We do need to get Avery rolling up here, I'm ready to make it happen, just say the word.... :D

I actually called Cabelas today. I finally made my decision. I was going to order the SR-1 in Birds Eye Maple. But they are all sold out. I guess I waited too long. I just got a PM from Field and he said that the Birds Eye Maple does not hold up in tough weather. But it is the best sounding. So they are now selling them for $150 u.s. Cabelas was selling it for $129.99. So if anyone knows where I can get it for that price anywhere else let me know. But now I am a little worried about it swelling or cracking. It can get pretty darn cold here in Canada. Otherewise I will just wait until the next Cabelas Fall catolog. But I ordered a nice Bolen lanyard for when I do get it. Had to get something.

Oh yeah, and we do need a Avery dealer up here bad. I know lots of people who would love it. I would probably go broke. We are definately lacking in that area. Wholesale Sports simply doesn't cut it. A friend of mine went there to ask about a snow cover for a finisher blind. (they claim to deal with Avery) But they told him they had never heard of a Finisher before. A Cabelas would be nice.

I most definately agree with Brad, That is one thing Regina is MAJORLY lacking is a good outfitters store. Wholesale is amazing but yes they do need to start carrying more Avery products. I have brought that up with the owner of the Lethbridge wholesale but he says that all the orders go though the main office is Calgary. I urge anyone who has the funds from Regina OPEN UP A WHOLESALE, I know you will have my entire pay check!!

Brad,
I would spend the 20 extra bucks and get one now, gives you more time to practice and get those guts carved up.... You never know, by the time you wait until next catalogue Cabelas might be $150 anyways... Plus this way you can have Fred or Field set it up how you want it.... Just a thought there buddy...

Gentlemen,
We really do need to get an Avery dealer here in Regina. In the interim, you should be using the mail order catalogues and putting pressure on your favorite sporting goods stores to start stocking Avery gear. Believe me, it is a major goal to get Avery gear into Canadian Sporting Goods stores. Please be patient.
John, I've got your PM's. Give me a call sometime as I'd like to talk to you.

Hey guys,
As far as Regina goes, the only store that I could see becoming a licensed Avery dealer would be Great Northern. I don't see TNT making any changes too quick. Maybe I am wrong. Another gunsmith wouldn't hurt either.
