I am going to purchase a 1/2 dozen snow goose fullbodies due to the fact that more and more small flocks of snow geese are mixing with canadas in my area and when the canada season shuts down the small flocks of snows are still around and it will give me a chance to get out longer. My question is this since you can't mix and match actives or feeders, which one do I get. I know the old school thinking is more feeders, but I've noticed when geese are approaching more have their head up in a natural setting. I guess I was leaning toward six active on the edge of the spread or off to the side.

Jamie, I know exactly what you are saying. I see it all the time myself. most of the flocks or bodies of snowgeese I see the birds heads are up, not really with an alarmed look, just up looking around, but you can bet there are plenty of them feeding as well.
It really depends on what you see the few snows are doing in your area. If they land, and tend to keep their heads up, get the Active style.
If you are not seeing many, and you are purchasing just 6 to help draw the few snows to your spread, the Actives should be fine.
If putting out anymore than that afew dozen, I would surely try and get some feeders to mix in.
Good luck to you on them snows!

Jamie,
The advice I would give to you would be to use the feeders. Snows/Blues are some very aggressive feeding birds, if you watch close they will look like they are at a race as fast as they feed. Especially with that few of birds you are thinking about I would make it a feeder spread. My thoughts!!!

jamie- I don't think in numbers that small it will really matter. I guess I would lean towards feeders maybe though. Or, you buy a 6 pack, your buddy buys a 6 pack. Then trade so you each have 3. Then together you have both, or hunting by yourself you still have some of each.

For a half dozen I would get actives. They are a little more versatile in my book. Actives look better than feeders IMHO in resting/loafing type spots around water sets.
