Would it hurt anything to build a kennel floor from sheet aluminum. I have easy access to aluminum sheet and materials, but no experience in concrete. Would this hurt anything?

Will you have some sort of shade source on you kennal? Sheet metal Surface will get hotter then concrete plus sheet metal will break down faster as to concrete. Such as corrosion from uran and droppings from the dog. Other then that I do not see a problem. You may want to call a local dog trainer and ask them.
99, ERIC IS DEADON WITH THAT FLOOR GETTING HOT!!
WHATS WRONG WITH CRETE. IF ITS TO HARD TO CLEAN JUST DONT "BROOM IT" UNTILL THE CONCRETE HAS ALMOST CURED YOU WILL END UP WITH A SMOOTHER FINISH. OR JUST DONT BROOM IT AT ALL (SLICK WHEN WET THOUGH) YOUR DOGS PADS WILL THANK YOU!

we went with crete for our floors. NO BROOM FINISH. Your right, the hounds will thank you for this. save the alluminum for the roof areas. Good idea though.

fellas I might have a difference of opinion on the concrete floor. I like the brushed finish and think that its a good idea to toughen up your dog's pads. Soft smooth pads nick or cut easily, and dogs that never get walked on pavement do seem to get sore feet quicker than those dogs that have had their pads conditioned. I used to run with my dogs on the roads and when we did that they rarely suffered a pad problem.
As far as the sheet metal, use only if you are building a kennel house. Then put plywood inside it for insulation. It works nice, but a sheet metal floor on the kennel would be hot as hell.

Thanks for the input guys. I do have a roof over my kennel, but the sun could get to it from the sides though. I have one of those 10x10x6 chain link kennels. I guess I'll bite the bullet and have the crete poured. Thanks again.

Hey guys;take it from me i've had a 26 run kennel since 92 slick floors are the only way to go to stay clean. The broom finish catches to much grime.
