JOURNAL NOTES: I scouted a disced cornfield the evening prior that was holding a decent number of honkers. We showed up at the field at around 4:30 and got straight to work. We mudded the blinds with dirt clods and all the remaining stubble we could find. The birds from the opposite direction I thought they were so our setup was a little messed up. With the birds coming from behind us we had to work real hard with flagging and sensitive calling. Flagging on the corners and moans and willis’s we were able to coax the birds to within gun range. We were able to kill 16 honker’s this morning with no cripples. It was a great morning and it really put our skills to the test. We were able to adapt to the unexpected changes and put the bird’s feet down.
