HUNTERS: Dave Weidner – Avery Pro-Staff, Larry Van Kirk, Scott Bahonni, John Tonnelli, Twister and Storm
JOURNAL NOTES:
A week of frigid cold weather has finally send some puddle ducks our way and we have had fluctuating temperatures during the afternoons that open back water creeks up after being frozen shut in the morning. This requires an extra 1 hour or chopping holes in the ice to launch boats and canoes to get to our locations. This morning's hunt, (12/29) was like a scene out of the floated timber in AK-or so I hear! Hundreds of mallards and black ducks poured into our 50 yard hole in the ice, but the action only lasted a mere ½ hour. Well worth the effort just to see all those ducks and shoot a few! Tomorrow will be my last North zone duck hunt and then its back to honkers and perhaps a few ducks in the Coastal Zone.
Several frigid mornings, excellent friends who love to scout as much as I do, have made for some great shoots.
