Avery Pro-Staffer Jeff Wallis spends a fair amount of time on the internet. One day while surfing the internet he came across a website then called, Adopt-a-Sniper now called http://www.Americansnipers.org

Jeff Wallis is a former Marine of 8 years and still is employed by the Marine Corps, so things of his nature interest Jeff as he still has fellow Marine friends and co-workers deployed in Iraq. American Snipers was formed by a group of Law Enforcement Snipers that understand the requirements and gear that is needed to perform this job. They also understand that some of the gear that these snipers need, they cannot get through the military supply system. So that is why they founded their organization. Some of the gear these guys need to do their job are things like rifle scopes, spotting scopes, rangefinders, small binoculars, surefire weapons lights and the list goes on. While reading through the list of gear needed by the snipers, Jeff saw that they had a request for Pistol Lanyards. Jeff then contacted the founder of the group Brian Sain, a Port Arthur Texas SWAT Sniper and asked what the requirement was for the pistol lanyards. Brian sent Jeff some information and Jeff took the task to hand. He created a simple but effective adjustable pistol lanyard made from parachute cord and a black oxide snap to attach to the lanyard stud on the snipers sidearms. These pistol lanyards help the snipers in that when on the run after taking a shot, if their pistols fall from their holsters they will not lose the weapons. They also help steady the weapon when drawn from their holsters. Jeff has sent over 100 of these to be disbursed to the sniper platoons that have asked for these. He says this is his way of donating his time to help support our troops in a positive way!
Americansnipers.org is currently supplying about 70 Sniper Platoons in Afghanistan and Iraq. There are many other large and small companies as well as civilians that donate and support this effort, and Jeff just wanted to help out since the lanyard thing is something that he knows about all to well. When you get a chance stop by their website and check it out. Here is a link to a great movie about the mission of the sniper throughout history and currently. You can also donate money or purchase items from the site to support the mission and the snipers.
