For years I was one of the guys that simply refused to wear one....Who knows why really, stupidity is the only answer I can come up with...
Truth be known it wasn't until about a year ago I started wearing it.... Let me tell you boys something from first hand experience, they really do save lives...
I was in a pretty serious rollover about 6 weeks ago, due to the length of time I was unconscious as well as a severe concussion I don't remember the entire day of the accident, let alone the accident itself....
Eye witness's reported I hit a patch of ice at highway speed slamming the truck into a guard rail that launched the vehicle and ended up rolling it 3-4 times....
When they phoned the EMT and police to report the accident, they told them to expect a " dead on arrival"... I am here to tell the story and believe I owe that to wearing my seatbelt....
Note from the Whacker I would just like to add, that being in the Fire and EMS field for 20+ years. Seatbelts and Helmets really do make a difference. Please use them everytime you operate a motor vehicle. John is living proof that they do work. I would also like to say that the entire Avery Family hopes that John and Jerad are recovering well, after their traumatic accidents.
