hey i hunt on seneca lake one on NY finger lakes and all the winter ducks that i see are golden eyes and few red heads and also some blue bills. when i see these ducks hey are always out farther than my limits. sometimes i set up on a dock and also i take my avery migrater and set it up on the shore line will winter duck light in close to shore if i have about 30 decoys or so out . with those 30 i have about 2 more dozen mallards out al the same time will they lite in..... i dont mix them tho

I would just go with your 30 divers. More white the better. Try to find a point and setup along it. If you see the ducks flying in the area 30 decoys should be plenty to suck them in. If you can, put a line of decoys from out deep to closer to shore and put a pod of decoys at the end of the line close to shore. Should bring them in for you. Goodluck!

I agree with Tim. Try making a long line of decoys out leading into a group of decoys in close with a pocket for them to land in.

I know Seneca Lake and it gets a lot of pressure, as well as, the rest of that area. Birds that have been in the area awhile get smart quick and steer clear of shore usually, making late season tough. You should still be able to get small groups, pairs, and singles to give you looks though.
