DATE: i really cant remember but sometime before x-mas
Gear: 2 dozen GHG Hotbuys 2 mojo mallards
Hunters: Isaac spare,nick zink, tyson seirer
Location: Arkansas River
Weather...Cold but nice 40 degrees clear sunny afternoon
We set up on a hot spot with mallards know they would return to roost that evening....i had college class so the other three boys headed out and set up...about 2 in the afternoon...i got out of class early and drove home and got my gear....i didnt expect to get out early but i got to the river as fast as i could. When i got there i saw mallards circling the trees everywhere and i took off running as fast as i could about a mile and my lungs where burning....when i finally made it my buddies had a nice bag of about 11 drakes...however most of the birds started landing down river so tyson decided to go walk them up and me Ike and Nick stayed back to "guard the deks" after tyson flushed the birds there where ducks everywhere and we started working some birds...we shot a few more drakes and then i got slow the sun was almost down....and we heard some wings and a pair of drakes drop in from behind us. Nick, my buddy on the right shot and dropped the one on the right as Isaac and i dropped the drake on the left. WE shot the exact same time, and we both smoked it. I said to isaac "you hit him didnt you?" and he said "yes i did" i said well "so did i." Nick walked accross the water and picked up the drake and said "ITS banded....no Its' DOUBLE banded!" i looked at Isaac and we both just smiled....how crazy to shoot the exact same time on the same drake and it be double banded. There was a $20 reward band and Nick took each band in hand he told Isaac to pick a hand...i got the reward band. It was awesome...we ended up with 20 drakes...and $20...another great afternoon!
