Mark Hoke and I set up some of the new FB Blacks today in hopes of getting some photos of Black Ducks working to the decoys. What is the saying about the "best laid plans..."?

The Blacks that we hoped to see were feeding further out on the exposed mud flats courtesy of a strong NW wind from the day before that blew a lot of the water out of the Bay. However, we did not lack for birds decoying to the FB Blacks as the attached photos show.

Nice work on the pictures Rob. What are the birds with the orange wings? Are they some sort of pigeon or am I being an idiot? Let us know if you end up getting any working black ducks.
Good Hunting!

Tommy,
I was running early for my meeting with Mark so I took a drive through Blackwater NWR. Just got lucky as they were working the ponds behind the visitors center when I came around the corner.

Rusty,
I learned from a hunt a long time ago to take advantage of any outstanding light available in the early hours of the day. That way you don't have to put out decoys!
