Has Avery Looked Into Making A Smaller Decoy Bag To Fit Teal Sized Decoys.

It is a good idea. keeping those babies looking as beautiful as they were when they came out of the box would be nice.
Not sure what the demand would be......
What do you think guy's....would you use a 6/12 slot decoy bag designed just for the Teal?

The only thing I could think of is that you could probably just put 2 teal in one of the spaces and you shouldn't have a problem.

We have not discussed have a Slotted Teal Bag. That would have to a pretty small bag and I am not so sure what the demand would be for a bag of that size. I bet you can put 3-4 teal in one slot. Thanks for the idea and who knows what will be coming out next.

I Am Looking For A Bag To Put My Bufflehead Decoys In Also. Not Just Teal. AS FOR USEING THE BIG BAGS I WRAP MY TEAL DECOYS IN A TOWEL AND STILL PUT 4 IN A SLOT. I HAVE 4 12 SLOT AND 2 6 SLOT BAGS NOW AND PLAN ON MORE 6 SLOT BAGS FOR NEXT SEASON SO I CAN CARRY MORE OF MY DECOYS. MAYBE MAKE IT SO A LS BILL OR RINGER DECOY IS A SNUG FIT SO IT CAN BE USED FOR THE SMALLER END OF YOUR DECOY SIZES.

Gosh, that seems like a lot of trouble.
Heres an idea. a combination teal decoy bag/ rod bag/ tackle box
Here in the waterfowling mecca of Ark, the early teal season is always capped off by some fishing on the Ark.

Jeff, lighten up for God's sake.
You asked a question, and the answers you received were serious. Maybe not what you wanted to hear right then and there, but did you expect to say you wanted a slotted bag for your Teal and Bufflehead decoys and have us ship you a sample for your review tomorrow? How about talking it through with the other guys on here and trying to get your idea refined down to a concept that can be considered? Okay now, relax and take a deep breath......let's design this bag.
1. How many Teal, Bufflehead, etc. decoys would you transport at one time? I need the maximum number as well as the average number.
2. What are the maximum lengths (bill to tail), body widths and total body circumferences for every model of decoy you will transport in this bag?
3. Would you want the bag to have a zippered top to completely enclose the decoys inside the bag (same as the Avery Deluxe 6-Slot Decoy Bag) or is an open top preferred?
4. Would you want this bag to have the 2" side release buckles and removable straps allowing it to be converted into a "decoy poncho" when used with another Avery slotted bag?
5. Do you think this bag needs pockets or storage flaps? If so, what would you put in the pockets? Would you want a front panel pocket, side pockets, both, etc? Please be specific about the number of pockets, size of pockets and location of each and remember that pockets cost money.
6. I assume that everyone likes the Line & Weight Sleeves on the inside of each slot on our current bags and would not want to eliminate these, but I have been wrong many times before. Please let me know if you want these.
7. We normally put carry straps and an adjustable shoulder strap on ever slotted decoy bag. Do you want the same here?
8. Describe the drainage that you want on the bottom of the bag. Please be specific.
9. What will you pay for this bag? We can make a Cadillac, but you will not be able to pay a Chevy price for it. Keep in mind that features cost money so the retail price point everyone is willing to pay will determine the features.
Okay now that I have thrown out the manufacturing basics, I will let you guys come back with all the feedback you want to. Let's do this thing together - it will be fun.
BJ, please fee free to recommend any product you want to any time you want to as long as the recommendation is in good taste and not considered a SPAM. If Diane's Custom Bags, for example, offers a bag that you feel is a good fit for what Jeff is looking for, please feel free to direct him to her site. These forums are here to help waterfowlers gain information and to get answers to their questions. Help him out!
Thanks,
Tom

Thank You Mr. Mattews
Sometimes I Need A Good Smack Upside The Head. I Appologize For Being So Serious. And To Anyone I May Have Offended.
1. A Bag That Will Hold 6-18 Would Be An Average Size. Maybe Like 4 Or 5 Wide 2 Or 3 Deep Would Be A Balanced Bag To Carry. I Take Up To 5 Dozen Of That Size Depending On Where I Am Hunting That Given Day.
2. I Am Sorry But My Decoys Are Stored For The Summer So I Can Not Messure Them To Give You The Numbers You Asked For. But To Make It More Marketable Maybe It Would Fit Your Life Sized Bluebill Decoys. Then You Could Put Two Teal Keel To Keel In Each Pocket. Your Ringneck Decoys Will Fit Also. My Bufflehead Decoys Are The Same Size As Your Teal. No More Than 15"x25"x12" Tall With Pockets 5"x5" I Would Think Would Be Great.
3. Zipperd Top Is Not Needed To Me, Some May Like It Though.
4. Straps And Buckels To Match All Of Your Other Bags. I Like Everything To Be The Same. I Beleive In The Kiss Method (keep It Simple Stupid)
5. I Do Not Use The Pockets That Are On The Bags Now Some People May But I Do Not Feel They Are Needed.
6 Again I Personally Do Not Use The Weight Pockets. I Have A Rubber Band On My Weights And Wrap It Around The Keel To Keep The Line In Place. I Sometimes Change The Decoys In The Bags Daily So They Need To Be Wrapped To The Decoy.
7. As In Number 4 The Same As What You Have Now.
8. The Drainage You Have Works Great Why Change.
9. I Would Think You Could Market Them For Slightly Less Than What Your Current Bags Sell For. Less Fabic.
Thank You For Listening To My Crazy Idea.

I will give my input on it.
1. 6 to 12
2. Same size as the GHG Bluebills and Ringnecks. I am guessing the OS Buffleheads are about this size as well? This would be big enough to justify doing a bag for smaller decoys.
3. I would offer both models. If not both then I would offer just the Deluxe model. This way the handcarved guys get taken care of.
4. Yep.... this makes long huals easier when carrying lots of decoys.
5. Yep... an expandable pocket w/ flap on each end like the snow goose slot bag. They would make great pockets for long line anchors and it would evenly distribute the weight, instead of having just one large pocket on the front.
6. Yep, you have to keep in mind that not everyone wants the weight touching the decoy at any time. Think of the handcarved guys.
7. Yep carry straps and shoulder straps. Have the straps hook together for poncho.
8. Same as the 6 slot duck bag.
9. $9.99 cheaper than the 6 slot duck bags. Each model that is.
