upright to feeder ratio for specks?

Kind of a loaded question... becaue it's all about what you want more. Around here we hunt almost 50/50 resting areas/fields. For the resting areas I like to have more actives and for the fields I like to have more feeders. My spread is pretty much equal since we hun both places equally. For the resting areas I like for my decoys to appear to be resting, and or the fields I like for my spread to be mostly feeding. Does it really matter either way? I highly doubt it, but just as I want my decoys to look realistic I want my spread to portray realism as well.
As for as the bags..... Avery makes a 6 Slot bag for the Specks.

were in cali are you hunitng? are you going to be feild hunting? or just along side your duck blind? myself i would go with 1 box of actives and 2 box of feeders and for visablity i would add 6 snows to the spread. that would be a great feild spread!

Normally around here the resting areas are right on the water... normally flooded fields and back water.

I don't know if it is right or not but I have always went about 50/50 feeders to actives for Specks. The success seems to be pretty good...good enough that I haven't made any changes. We are mainly hunting grain fields more than resting areas.

Prob 50/50. But if you like more feeders it wont matter because all of these decoys are going to be moving. It just depends on what you like.

One or two actives per family group is my rule. I like to break up my spread into small family groups 20-30 feet apart. It also depends on the setup. For example on a bare dirt levee, I may place several actives and resters on the levee with the feeders and a couple actives below. In this situation a 1:1 ratio is better. I bought a dozen feeders and 6 actives for this past season. I usually grabbed 5 to 11 decoys depending on the spot and time of year. Like Christian said if it works stay with it.
Good Luck,
Jason

BJ,
We used about 50/50 this year but did change to a ratio of 2 feeders per active in some areas after watching the birds. Wait until you see the FFD Speck this fall. Unbelievable.
