Me and my friend put ours right in the landing zone and it works just fine for us it doesn't bother the geese and really brings in the ducks.

I have hunted with a robo for geese before and had terrible luck decoying birds. We took out the robo and the geese were in our laps. Could by my area where the birds are really pressured all year. As for ducks...the last couple years also had terrible success. We took it out of our spread completely I think the ducks and geese are all getting smart to spinning wing decoys.

we also ran into a few problems with geese and spinning wing decoys. Though the ducks would come in to the spinning wings, the geese would flare. as soon as we took it down the gees were jumping on us. but that could just be our location too.

I would have to agree with that. Definatly a no no for geese in the field. Ducks is hit and miss.

NY hunter -
I would suggest you add a remote to it, so you can turn it on for ducks and off for geese. When I use spinners, I always use a remote.
As far as placement, most importantly don't put it out front in the line of fire. This may sound like common sense, but I've heard a couple sotires of guys clipping spinners with stray shot...they are too expensive for that. I typically set my ducks up wind or off to one side and then I place the spinner with the ducks.

Spinners a becoming a bad Idea for the birds where I hunt, even for Ducks, Birds are getting more educated. It is a definate no no for Geese, I have never had any luck with them for Geese.

Around here a mojo goin scares geese, but when the ducks are flyin' and the geese aren't...LOOK OUT! A mojo is a must for a field spread, we put it right were we want the birds. Notice, if you can't get ducks to decoy and the geese start decoying, usually the ducks start pilin' in with geese. I think this is due to movement of landing birds. Hope this helps.

They was I was tought to do it, there always has to be a little movent in the water, I put it where I want the ducks to land,, But I have a couple mojo's and I shortend the stick on it so the wings would flap against the water, it really preaty good.

Robos work in the early season down here, to add movement and such to your spread. We useually put them either right beside or in the landing zone, usually works for us.

we use the robos up in canada and wear the ducks out, but the geese don't seem to like it. Canadas dont seem to care and the snow almost seem to flare from it. In the states its seems like its not even worth the hastle to put it out. It seems it almost hurts more than it helps.
The best thing Ive noticed is water movement. Ducks always put just enough ripple on the water to break up the reflection. mallard machines and trollin motors mounted on two by fours do the trick and keep the water from freezing, but can break the bank. You can make a jerk string or use quivermagnets for days when the water is like a sheet of glass.
if you have any questions pm me.

Hey, I have a question for you, WE usually get the geese in pretty decent, but alot of times the geese will land like 50 yards down the feild from us, how do you set your spread up.

They definitely don't work for geese where I am at, also remotes are not legal in some states.

If you got the decoy with a remote try turning it off and see how the ducks react.

in canada we will set out around a thousand snows, about 200 canadas, and about 50 ducks.
We put the decoys in a big X in the feild, canadas on the lower half and snows on the upper half. our blinds are in the middle facing into the wind with the upside down V of canadas in front of us. we put our duck fullbodies arround the blinds and inbetween the canadas and the robos out front and beside the blinds. We have a remote and turn the robo off when we see some geese comming. we usually have the robos turned off before 9am because most of the ducks have come or we already have our limit. at that point we just take them down.
hope this helps...
