Somone bought a Power Hen on eBay...didn't mention poly or acrylic...this one is poly, I contacted the buyer and he told me it was poly. I recommended they should put that in the description, they didn't. Someone got taken! Do all poly carbs have the black plastic band and all acrylics have the SS band?

Purely a marketing ploy. jsut praying on the uninformed. I know knowledge is power. Just like some one buying a antique decoy that has been repainted Vs one in original paint. you take a reapinted mason Standard Glass Eye Mallard, and it is worth 150.00. Take one in original paint in similar condition and you are talking 750.00 easy. buyer beware

You are correct. All of the poly carbs have black bands. All of the custom calls have a silver band. I hate it when people try to prey off of others. This guy needs to get some negative feedback if he is try to pawn off a poly carb for a custom acrylic.

Does anyone know if the ploy carbs are all hand tuned and should they be comparable to the acrylic or wood custom calls?

No call leaves the shop that they would not hunt with themselves. They are tuned and ready to go. Now if you get one second hand the previous owner could've messed with it of course.

He should have emailed the guy on ebay before buying it in the first place if he didnt know what it was!

If this auction ended yesterday the guy did it on purpose. I asked him if it was a poly and he never did answer me. :(

All of the calls...poly and acrylic are hand tuned by the folks at Zink calls. That is not to say that they will fit everyone right out of the box. Each and every person puts air into a call a bit different. Therefore, a call from any manufacturer may require a little tweaking to fit it to you.

Thought I would fill you guys in as I am the seller of the polycarbonate call that sold for $71.

I never intended to screw anyone on this call, nor did i intend to "pawn off a poly call for a custom acrylic." It was complete oversight and a mistake on my part, this was the first item i've sold on ebay, and was not paying close enough attention to my description as I copied most of it from the zink website.

Anyway, as soon as the auction ended, I contacted the buyer and told them of my error and that i would not sell them the call for $71, as it was not an acrylic, and they could have it for $30, if they still wanted. They did not want it as they were looking for an acrylic zink power hen. They were happy that i did not screw them, as was I. Like i said, that was never my intention.

Bearman, I could not change my description as people had already been bidding.

Tailchaser, i quit emailing people back when the price got above $40 because I was going to have to do something about the situation. Yeah, i intentionally didn't email you back.

anyway, thought you might want the whole story.

It happens alot on e-bay,people getting ripped off when buying a call that is poly and described as acrylic.I have personally asked them through e-mail weither it was a poly call or acrylic, knowing full well it was a poly and they never have contacted me with a reponce, but in the end you have better be an informed purchaser or pay the unjust consequence's,thats just the way the American way has become, sad but true.I have never been ripped at e-bay,but have seen many who were though.
