I don't think you would be disappointed. If anything, the widgeon decoy will add more color to your spread. I don't think you can go wrong.

I just bought 16 snow goose floaters with the snap lock keel. I think they are are great idea they hold in really well. I would give them the nod :) for how easy they are to put together

some of them can be hard to put in...
I'm fifteen and had to push on em pretty hard to get them in, but it wasn't a problem because I knew they would never come off after they went in. If you are going to be taking them on and off alot for feild/water it will get easier over time. All in all nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the reply and I wont take em off a lot. Maybe once or twice a year we usually dont put them on ice so the keels would just stay on. I think I am gunna go ahead and git them as soon as my freakin sister pays me back the $ she owes me :p

My favorite spreads when hunting on water are the mixed bag of duck decoys. Everybody has mallard decoys, but not many have the OTHER ducks. I think that the mixed bag deal really has its place on heavily pressured ducks.

I don't think it would be a bad idea just gets a little more color in the spread.

The wigeon decoy will add realism to your spread as well as some added flash.

Hey I used some "Odd Ball Decoys" this year.. I set up on a ditch that had water spilling out into a cut cornfield. I hadn't seen many ducks in this spot before but thought I would try it out.. I set out 2 Doz GHG Mallards, 1 Doz. GHG Shovelors, 1 Doz. GHG FB Mallards, and 6 GHG Canvasbacks of all things.( I borrowed the Canvasback Decoys from a friend) And also used my Finisher..I didn't get my limit but I did kill a Drake Canvasback (in a corn field)...I could be wrong but the only reason the Canvasbacks came in there was b/c of the GHG Canvasbacks..

I used to use an all Mallard spread until the last couple of years. This year my spread was probably only about 50% Mallard and we had good success. If nothing else, it makes me a more confident hunter because it sure looks more realistic.

Get em'. Cant go wrong with a little color. The bottom of the widgeon decoys, especially the hens tend to curve upward for a bowed bottom. When you put the keel on you have to pull the keel down to make the bottom flat while pulling. Or you can start the keel in and then put the keel on the edge of a table and push down on the decoy for leverage. I dont reccoment pulling them off or on too much.
Get a dozen. More color the better. Good luck.

I just put together some dekes today. I put a very small amount of soap foam on the front of each keel and didn't have trouble with any. Previously without the soap each keel was a little bit of a struggle.

Adding the "oddball" decoys will definately help your hunt. We add a 6 pack of spoonies, and a 6 pack of widegeon to our spread for visiblity and the mallards eat it up.
This year we will add the Coot to the diver spread as well. Redheads will get stacked up over them I guaruntee it.

I am with Christian. Every year I cut back on the mallards and add odd balls. I honestly think next year I will be running more visibilty decoys than anything. Black ducks, pintails, coots, shovelers, goose floaters. In high pressured areas, these attention grabbers may make the difference.

As all the others have said the “odd ball” decoy is a good thing and I will have to say I’m right with them. I have been running mostly mallards, and goose floaters, but over the past two seasons I have been adding pintails, spoonies, gadwall, and this year widgeon.
I have had better success with mixing the spread, then I have had in the past seasons.
So I’m going to say get them, it won’t hurt.
