Avery Pro-Staffer Dave Weidner and friends do cleanup Spring Clean-up!

Upon return to a local backwater creek to check wood duck boxes, Avery Pro-Staff member Dave Weidner was disgusted to find that a homeowner or contractor had dumped demolition materials along a section of Assunpink Creek in New Jersey. After soliciting the assistance of two fellow duck hunters and StormOutfitters.com discussion forum members “Joe” and “Drake”, arrangements were made to clean up the non-biodegradeable materials which included pressure treated wood and pallets, carpet, various plastics, plywood and linoleum floor tile, ceramic tile and broken concrete.

“Joe” provided the trailer to haul to materials to a local township dump for proper disposal and “Drake” provided various tools including rakes, shovels and tie-downs. Large pieces of cut firewood that had also been dumped in the area were stacked and arrangements will be made with local authorities for there disposal, if possible. The entire clean-up process took several hours to complete, but it helps makes another small dent in preserving the environment which we as waterfowlers have a duty to protect.

The StormOutfitters.com discussion forum members have been instrumental in giving back to the waterfowling community. Last year, our members were able to donate over $700 in donations to Ducks Unlimited with the gracious donations collected via their “Custom Call Makers” auction.
