I dont know if this has been touched on in another post but my hunting buddies and I were wondering if anyone has tried or thought of using some kind of clear coat over their full-bodies to help protect the paint finish. Does it get too shiny? I am mainly asking because we need a way to keep our decoys from rubbing while in the trailor (we have them hanging). Any other ideas to keep this from happening? Some pictures of the trailor setup will be provided below by dustin9.

It may work well but as dustin implied we dont have the money to be buying for 6-slots.

Ok i know i posted this on the other forum, but i am gonna put it here anyway. Because this is a question that the answer could benefit eberyone with motion decoys and a trailer.
Ok guys whats the best way to transport your motion decoys in your trailer. My buddy has his in some pretty cool laundry bags. He bought them at the dollor store. They are divided down the middle, and he has hung them on the wall. Its a pretty neat idea if you ask me. But i want to see some other options before i decide what i do with mine.

roosterbooster,
I'll post up pics of my rig later this week/weekend. The dekes do rub a little on the sides but over the past 2 years I haven't seen a lot of trouble with it. There is some paint loss but nothing major. By the time the geese get close enough to notice it, they are part of the bag limit. Just my 2 cents.

One of the best thing that you can put on the paint to protect them and not have a shine is testors dullcote it was made to dull gloss paint it is a decent protection and has not gloss to it.

Joe, do you have any pictures of the dull coat? It would be cool to see what it looks like! Thanks for sharing.

Here is the spead I used last year. There are 4 dpzen averys that i custom airbrushed and then used dullcote as a sealer. You will not really notice much change on a dull surface however if you experiment and paint it over a glossy surface you will see what I am talking about.

I think the best way if you have the money is the 6 slot bags. They are so sweet i mean if you have to walk in you can carry 2 or 3 bags maybe 4 if ur HUGE but the bags are just so nice to the decoy. Stacking them in the trailer is nice to because u can just put them on top of each other. If you can afford the 6 slot bags go with it. I think its well worth it.

Well as stated before we don't have and extra 600 bucks laying around to buy 6 slots for all our decoys. Otherwise we would have them.

Well, while your decoys are under warranty, which by the looks of them......hehehehe are not anymore......use Krylon 1311. It is a matte finish transparent spray. I'm not sure how many decoys you guys have, but this works great, but can get a touch expensive as well.
You need a good 3-4 light coats on each decoy. I believe Wal-Mart sells these cans of spray at $2.97 or $3.97 a piece.

I tried the krylon matte, it had more shine than I wanted that is why I went to the dullcote.

I've never tried using a dull or clear coat before, but I'd have to imigine that at least the clear coat would add glare in the sun light.
I also use a trailer and have 5 dozen of my GHG FBs hanging on rods and the rest in 6 slot bags. I haven't had any issues with rubbing/paint with those hanging on rods. But if you are concerned and I know you said that cost was an issue, you you could try individually wraping each decoy with a heavy garbage bag. I have seen guys also cut squares of card board/carpet/burlap etc and punch a hole in it, then slip it on to the rod between each decoy.
Post up and let us know what you decide to do and how it works.

The cardboard is a pretty good idea Mike, I didn't think of that!

goosehunter64, our decoys are hunted hard almost every day of the goose season and many geese are shot over them. That is why they look the way they do. What does the warranty have to do with it? I didn't understand where that came into play?

I just have a little trailer so I cannot build shelves, i each seperately and just stacked to the best to save room. The bags I use are http://www.cleanersupply.com/products/product.cfm?pID=1414
You can leave them assembled even the lookers and get them to fit. It might take alittle more time but it is much cheaper than the six slot bags

To modify or put any product on, that is not from the factory (per-say) , voids the GHG warranty.
I hope that helps. I'm sure you are aware that GHG has a 1 yr warranty.

oh yeah I am aware of all that. Same with all warranty's. Yeah the ones in front are definitely over a year old. I'm sure you could tell judging by the flocking that came off due to our 'toss in the back of the truck as you please' method of hauling decoys.

I don't own any Avery full bodies, but I have hardcores and we used laundry bags from Wal-Mart, K-Mart, ect.. There like 96 cents a piece and they work awsome. Look into it
