I am currently useing Max-4 for my pattern. But this year I plan on buying some different cloths and have thought about switching to Shadow Grass. I really like the old pattern, but I have a hard time finding any thing in it. New Shadow Grass seems to come in more items. My favorite brand is Drake for clothing and they only have the New Shadow Grass. What do you guys think? Is the new Shadow Grass good, or should I look around for the old pattern? Does any one know of any brands that produce hunting clothing in the old pattern? Will Avery have clothing? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Buy which ever one you want as long as the price is right. I mud all of my clothes now. Come to think of it........I mud everything I have from Blinds (obviously) to bags, gloves, ball cap, etc. You don't buy camo to look good, you buy it to produce results!! I truly believe either one will provide you with that.

Michael, that is great advice. Mudding all of your equipment will really help on knocking any glare off and aid in blending into your environment.
Younggun, you may want to call the Mossy Oak Outlet in West Point, MS. I know they have some of the old SG in stock. The # is 662 494-9092.

I still like the older pattern better. It just seems to be lighter and more realistic. Mudding your clothes as well as your gear is a great piece of advice. Let us know of the outcome.

Thanks for the input. Also, what do you guys think of Nat-Gear? I hear Avery is going to make a bunch of items in it. I like the pattern. Does anybody use it in the field? Would it work in marshs and lakes in the Dakotas and Minnesota

The old SG pattern is my favorite pattern. I have started to see more NatGear and I like it. I know that I am going to buy some NatGear this year.
Thanks,

I have always been a Mossy Oak guy, but NatGear is affective as well. I used the new Shadow Grass this last year and it really worked well. I still have some of the original shadow grass in some lighter weight clothing and use it whenever I can.

I like the Old SG the best by far...as far as Mossy Oak goes. I think that I will be trying some NatGear this year as well. I really like it's appearance and when I have seen it on folks in the field, it really looked good.

I still like the old shadowgrass in most the places I hunt. However, I have a pasture with NO cover in it all and Natgear is nothing short of awesome in that. In a blind I still think you can use jsut about anything, because you are going to cake it with mud anyway, but clothing, you may not have that option.

The old shadow grass is my favorite camo pattern. It's off to the races to find stuff in it before everyone goes to new shadow grass.

Hate to sound like a broken record but I think the Old Shadowgrass rocks as well. Nat gear works well in a lot of situations. I've used in in North Dakota and South Dakota with great results. Michael gave some great advise, mud your gear and clothes as well.

Will Avery be making things in new Shadow Grass this year? If so, Imay have to switch. Compared to Max-4, do you think New shadow Grass will work better?

I personally believe the original SG is the more effective than Max-4. Not saying Max-4 will not allow you to kill ducks. That is an argument waiting to happen, therefore worth the time to avoid. Mudded up Old SG is my advice and most people I think are going to follow suit.
Your not signing away your first child when buying camo, just remember that. ;)
Trust me, you will get results with original SG. I hope this helped and good luck!
