I was wondering how I should set up my goose spread?I have 1 dozen redhead shells, 1 dozen flambeau shells with convert a head, and 6 GHG active fb's. How should I bunch them and how many actives-lookers-feeders? thank you.

I'd say start with three active FB's on each side of the tips of the spread (considering you are using the U-Pattern) and then have the shells at the base of the spread. This makes it look like the actives have landed and are walking to lay down and feed with the other geese.

A wise old goose god gave me the best advice I had ever recieved on decoy placement, no matter the size of spread.
"Just put'em in a pile(close together) and call the poop out of them."
Probably not the "2 feeders here, one looker here, one sleeper here" response you were looking for, but it works more times than not. I know I get way too cute on decoy placement at times and my buddies will bring me back with that saying. Just keep it simple and straight forward.

Decoy placement is simple. While scouting the geese you are going to be hunting, make a mental note of how they are acting. What time of day it is, are more birds filtering in still, are birds leaving, is this their prime feeding spot, or a loafing area, etc. Set your rig as close to how they are as you can. Scouting is the key to great spreads.

Jake,
It all depends. Your spread is really too small to run traffic. You can still effectively harvest birds when you are on the X though. I have had many great hunts with 6 great decoys. If you are where they want to be then the 6 GHG Full Body's are all that you need, especially if you are hunting smart birds. I believe less is more when you use quality decoys. I f you are going to hunt the whole spread I would put the shells upwind of the full bodys and turn you full bodys into walkers. That is where the birds will focus their attention. You want to make sure those are in shooting range.
