So... what's the current status of the coot dekes? There was a lot of buzz right after the season, but I haven't heard anything in a while. How about a progress update?

We have a slick carving that has to be textured before we can begin to make a mold out of it.
Thanks,

why do you need decoys to shoot coots?

Most people use them as a confidence decoy. I'm thinking about getting a few and seeing how they really perform.

why do you need decoys to shoot coots?Cause it's more fun to decoy them than to pass shoot them!
Still waiting for the coot calling competition to be added to the worlds. Been a practicin' long and hard, neighbors 'bout to burn down the garage!

Never heard of using them for confidence. All coots I ever see never even fly after a shot is fired. Don't know why ducks would feel confident around those stupid things.

Ducks associate very much so on a local lake with coots. They know that if there are ducks without coots around them they are fake and won't come near. Hell your better off without decoys sometimes. The new coots will be added next year for sure.

Everytime I was hunting last year and there were coots in the decoys no birds would come in, once they were gone they did come in. I guess I'm not supposed to go with what works, just what people say online. If all ducks no that if there are no coots present the decoys are fake, then why doesn't Avery have coot decoys out? I might as well just sell all of my GHG decoys because all the ducks will know they are fake because I don't use coot decoys.

They may just be sharing ideas that work for them.
If your situation is different, it'd be foolish to present something to the birds that doesn't mimic what occurs naturally.
That's not a real hard one to work out, now is it?

Correct do what ever works best for you and what you feel comfortable with.
Fred should be posting pictures of the coot any day. He is texturing it now as we speak.

Can I get an honest opinion from one of the Pro-Staffers.....
I HAVE to have 2 dozen coots by October first for my hunting spot. If these decoys have yet to be textured, I assume there is little to no chance they will hit the stores by September....how right/wrong am I with this statement?
There are no other decent coot decoys on the market, so I want to buy GHG....but time is the issue here...any thoughts?
