Avery Pro-Staffer Stuart McCullough recently traveled to Pleasanton California with four of his Agricultural Mechanics Students to deliver John Madden his 70th Birthday present from his wife Virginia. They were contacted back in August through a mutual friend as to the possibility of the grills construction. From there they started getting busy building the 21’ twin grill monster. As they say in my Ag Shop, “The customer gets what they want”. If they did not it would not be custom. So they built it to his wife’s specs. Two grills 3 1/2 ‘ X 5’ with stainless bars, a commercial stainless steel griddle on the back, two high heat burners on the front for beans or corn, stainless steel tables 365 degrees around the top, a custom pearl black paint job on the non heated areas, and polished aluminum floor plate to accent the black. So when you look at it there is that Silver and Black color scheme.

Once they arrived at his office in Pleasanton they were greeted by his wife Virginia who spent some time visiting with the boys. From there John Madden came out to see what his wife had made for him. He seemed to be very happy with his gift. He spent a bit of time talking to the boys and asked them many questions about themselves as well as the project. Before they left we took several pictures and he signed some memorabilia for the boys. Also, he gave each of the boys an autographed official NFL football and his wife made a very generous donation to the Los Banos FFA program. The four students who constructed the project are Louis Lais, Mitchell Pincolini, Anthony Sequiera, and Steven Singh.
