"Determination" by Jude St. John

Avery Pro-Staffer and Toronto Argonauts Offensive Guard Jude St. John also has an artistic side. He recently did an acrylic on canvas in which Jude’s work is a study in printmaking. Being a hunter off the football field, he has used the brass end of a shotshell hull, and used it as a stamp, filling the entire canvas with a patterned succession of round impressions. His color choice of earthy yellows, greens, browns and crimsons perhaps pay homage to his love of the outdoors. The feel of this piece is reminiscent of retro Scandanavian fabric prints. Way to go Jude, looks like we may have a Picaso in the making.

Jude is truly a Renaissance man or he has taken one too many shots to the head on the line! Sorry Jude...couldn't resist.

It should be mentioned that Jude's efforts were part of an Exhibit of art works created by other sports celebrities and will be auctioned off on-line. For more info follow this link:

Jude...what...no smock? But it looks like you are using a "live" round so you do get points for being "working on the edge". The feel really comes through in your painting...

Rob, I actually prefer the mumu over the smock. Any plans for an Avery smock in shadowgrass?
