I am sure that there will be some P/S heading to Saskatchewan to hunt this fall. If you are tagetting snow geese do you use a e-caller and leave your blue goose and juvenile snows in the trailer or at home. Or do you use your juvenile snows and blue geese in the spread without the e-caller.
The law is that you have to use a all white spread if you are using a e-caller int the fall. In the spring you can use juvenile snows and blue goose decoys with the e-caller.
I am just curious what the P/S have done in the past and how they will hunt in the future if they choose to hunt in Saskatchewan.
Thanks Boon

There has to be some one in this forum that hunts Saskatchewan for snows???

We leave the ecallers at home. We like the variety that Saskatchewan has to offer and do not like limiting ourselves to just whites. In the areas our group mostly hunts there are a lot of specks along with the snows. Our spreads are similar to what we see on the ground. Snows, Blues and Specks. We use all full bodies (best move we ever made) and 100% GreenHead Gear. We have found that the trailer is lighter, we need to set out fewer decoys than before and everything just fits better with the 6 slot bags. Last year we did well over 12 dozen full body lights but we are adding 8 more dozen.

I don't make it up that way, but in the fall down here we can't use an ecaller. The snows don't have any trouble bombing into the spread without the ecaller on down here. If I was up there, I would be hard pressed to leave the blues at home. I'd rather have the blues out and no ecaller going.

Never hunted there but i would use the blues in the spread. I think it looks more natural.

We do not use E callers there either. With the variety of birds you can get, you just can't limit yourself by an all white spread. Rarely do you hunt there and shoot JUST ducks, JUST darks, JUST snows, unless you choose to.
Besides, the blues mixed in there add SO much to the spread.

I have hunted snows over a full white set with an e-caller and with a mixed decoy set and no e-caller. Early in the year, we often go all white and blare some sounds. This works well, especially when the birds are migrating. Later in the season, we’ll use a mix of white and dark decoys and leave the e-caller at home.

Another thing to keep in mind is your competition. If everyone is going with mixed sets and no e-callers, go all white and play some “tunes”. On the other hand, if everyone in the area is using white spreads and e-callers, go to a mixed set.
